I don't buy this contract talk crap.

Something else is wrong.

I'm actually worried his injury was significant, because he isn't leaping like he did, or kicking as well as he was.

:(
Couldn't agree more. I still strongly believe he is staying.

However, if he is injured, don't play him. Ray can cover him.
Yeah I just don't see these signs of him going, all I'm seeing is a guy whos body isn't doing what his mind wants.

...and I mean injured as in, that hip injury maybe has impacted him long term...hope not :(

I never said they would swap him but i do disagree with you. Murphy is a star. BJ is a very good player who is struggling badly. The worst part is he looks so slow.

BJ is and has only ever been a 'very good player'? Are you serious?

Murphy is a good player, no argument. But I disagree with you on who is the better player when they are in form.

I am 100% serious.

Interesting....

So he has clubs willing to pay him mega bucks because he is only a 'very good' player?

All I see is a guy lacking confidence and out of form. Dont see any injury at all. i do see people making excuses for how badly he is playing.

Lacking intensity not winning the contests he usually does and quite frankly doesn't look very fit and toned for a pro sportsman.

Well he was off his feet for 8 weeks....no preseason.

I don't know how that would impact him long term this season.

By all accounts, one of the hardest workers on the track.

Ward and Scully were drafted on their 'potential'. BJ is being hunted for his proven ability. He is not just a number 1 draft pick with only 2 years in the game. He is a 27 year old that is a proven star. After this long in the game, he would not be offered mega bucks like those 2 for potential only (at almost 28 years of age, it would be a little late for that). He is being offered big money on his proven stature and ability in the game.

I was genuinely surprised that Siposs was subbed. I did think that BJ may have been. Not kidding.

Doesn't play with the same spirit / passion that we expect from Brendon Goddard. The way he's just going through the motions this year really makes me think that it's probably his last year in the red, white and black. It's fair enough if he has decided to go, he's probably struggling to get himself up again this year after having almost got to the top of the mountain so many times now....he probably needs to start fresh somewhere else. It will be a sad day if/when BJ decides to go but I just hope we get adequate compensation for him.

He did have a limited preseason I'll give him that.

He has played a couple of howlers in the second half of this year.
His suspension was pathetic. Deserved every week for the stupid, stupid action.

I think his problem is between the ears.

He is no longer elite in any way, shape or form.

He is damn fortunate that there are a couple of clubs with close to free reign on the chequebook.

If he goes, he goes.

I know the players are professionals but I think some are still affected, though some more than others from the GF losses. Who can blame them, I am still broken hearted and I am only a supporter. I can't help but think that BJ especially is having trouble getting over the disappointment. Some other senior players I think have come to accept that the chances of wining a premiership are not great now and are playing out their careers. Champions like Lenny who bleed red white and black, I reckon the fire never goes out. BJ though also a great St Kilda man, might be thinking a new start may be the best option.

Goddard doesnt look interested playing footy. Either with st.kilda or someother club. I think he has some other issues to handle first.

Maybe he sees a lack of leadership in the team and maybe thinks he should have been captain this year.

Glad someone else sees it like this.

I just don't buy Brendon would let something like contracts weigh him down.

Good players like Goddard are capable of making themselves look good on the stats sheet and he is further helped by the position he plays and yesterdays game proves that.

I've got an idea, lets retain Gram on some stupid qualification clause and let BJ go, surely that's the answer......

It all comes to a head this weekend. 200 games, normally a massive celebration for a club champion and recognition of a decade of quality. But it is surrounded by this innuendo about his state of mind and his future. I am very interested to see how people talk about him this week.

Should that happen, I'd take the extra salary cap space and a suitable draft pick/exchange of draft picks. Do NOT want Hansen or ANY of their rucks - yes that includes Kruiser and Warnock!

In fact, thinking about it, Murphy aside, I don't think I'd want anybody from Carlton's list. They are all either over paid +/- over hyped +/- mentally soft front runners, or merely GOPs. So definitely, salary cap space and draft pick/s from Carlscum, not players.
HANSON

you have to be kidding me. im not at all against trading bj for top 10 pick or a gun player.
But not Hanson FFS! With a fit Rhys/Roo/Ben - Hanson would not get a game in our 22.
