Re: Changes for next week
Out: Wilkes Dunnell
In: Goddard Steven
Pretty easy this week
Tough on Dunnell he played well, but he is not in our best 22 yet and will make way.
Wilkes is nothing more than a back up.

That has disaster written all over it.bergholt wrote:dunno, but i'm not on the coaching staff. their forward line is something like:defacto wrote:what will his role be against sydney?
o'keefe - goodes - mcglynn
jetta - reid - everitt/roberts-thomson
maybe? so on that basis you'd go:
gwilt on reid
fisher on goodes
simpkin on everitt
dempster on jetta
geary on mcglynn
gram on o'keefeif that's the case then gram would have one of the most important roles on the ground - o'keefe had 39 touches this week.
what do you think his role will be?
O'keefe is very good overhead - Gram is without doubt one of our poorest 1 on 1 defensive spoiling options in the side.

Re: Changes for next week
Dempster traditionally gets O'Keefe.
I think Geary may try to run with Jetta?

Re: Changes for next week
O'Keefe played on ball all game today (and was very good) so he may get a hard tag, or as seems more usual of late be matched against Monty, Dal or Jones.
Re: Changes for next week
so gram has played in a shut down role in the back 6, theres no real match up for him against sydney and we still want to play him? riiiiggghhhttttTeflon wrote:That has disaster written all over it.bergholt wrote:dunno, but i'm not on the coaching staff. their forward line is something like:defacto wrote:what will his role be against sydney?

Re: Changes for next week
O'Keefe plays on the ball now unless people think he got 39 possessions as a forward. He may rest forward but he is an onballer.

Re: Changes for next week
He was a loose backmen for decent periods last time we played them. Have to be ready for him to play anywhere. I like Dempster running with him, even if that means he spends some time in the middle.plugger66 wrote:O'Keefe plays on the ball now unless people think he got 39 possessions as a forward. Re: Changes for next week
If Goddard is coming back into defence, maybe Gwilt may be in danger. His form has not been good.

gwilt has been excellent. getting better with each game.borderbarry wrote:If Goddard is coming back into defence, maybe Gwilt may be in danger. His form has not been good.
gilbert showed something pushing up the ground.
question mark is on gram. there doesnt seem to be a match up for him.

You keep saying that. Dont the Swans have running forwards. I would think there is always a match up for a Gram type player.

Re: Changes for next week
I think GWILT may be unlucky this week. Do Sydney have any power forwards that we need Gwilt to mark?
I think we have them covered without Gwilt. Horses for courses this game and Jimmy is unlucky. We need an agile team to beat the Swans at the SCG.
We already have Sam Fisher who is strong and could play on Goodes.
We have Gilbert, Dempster who are agile and can play on the skinny Reid and Everitt.
Simpkin will take the resting ruckman (Mummy or Pike)
McEvoy will drop back to fill the hole aswell.
Ray will tag O' Keefe.
Geary will take Jetta.
Clint Jones will tag Josh Kennedy.
All other mids will go head-to-head and I believe WE will cause THEM issues with our depth of: Hayes, Armitage, Montagna, Dal Santo, Goddard, Steven, Schneider.
Throw in the unpredictability of Saad, Milne, Siposs, and Dunell to go along with the fortresses of Rooey and Kosi and we are looking bloody as strong as we have looked all season.
I would see the changes as:
OUT: Wilkes (omit), Gwilt (omit)
IN: Goddard, Steven
Sub: Dunnell.

Re: Changes for next week
Don't mind it Bakes but the only concern I have is Gwilt is actually one of our best ball users (kicks with penetration-accuracy out of defense).... I'm not fan of Gilbert/Dempster as our deliverers out of back half...

Having Goddard back may help in that areaTeflon wrote:Don't mind it Bakes but the only concern I have is Gwilt is actually one of our best ball users (kicks with penetration-accuracy out of defense).... I'm not fan of Gilbert/Dempster as our deliverers out of back half...
Re: Changes for next week
i thought dempster was a pretty good long kick? and gilbert's been playing in the midfield mostly.Teflon wrote:Don't mind it Bakes but the only concern I have is Gwilt is actually one of our best ball users (kicks with penetration-accuracy out of defense).... Re: Changes for next week
What's up with Gilbert's kicking?
It was woeful until the final term when a miracle occurred.

Re: Changes for next week
True, but Bakes has Goddard listed as a mid not defender and Im not sure we shouldnt be trying to break Goddard free from the floating back role as Watters flagged. I agree with him and think this has been detrimental to his career.bergsone wrote:Having Goddard back may help in that areaTeflon wrote:Don't mind it Bakes but the only concern I have is Gwilt is actually one of our best ball users (kicks with penetration-accuracy out of defense).... I am assuming the question relates to the good kick as his kicking has been woeful for 2 years!saintspremiers wrote:What's up with Gilbert's kicking?
