Dunell & Siposs ?????
Just interested how both played tonight, for those of us who never got to listen or watch . cheers
Re: Dunell & Siposs ?????
Dunell made an immediate impact as a sub. I liked what I saw. Only real blemish was his shot at goal, but otherwise a good debut. Siposs was outstanding, a couple of fantastic goals and good marks at both ends of the ground.

Re: Dunell & Siposs ?????
For some reason Dunell reminds me a lot of Franky Couglan, more the body shape and running style.
Great debut, couple of nerves but a promising pick up.

Dunnell was great in his first game. Will play again next week

Dunells disposal was very impressive apart from his shot on goal. Hit his targets with good penetration.

Understatement, subbed off at half time?

Is ok to play...but if you have a better option like Stanley you will go for him every time.
So is likely to be in and out.
Watters is probably very tempted to maintain his three talls...but a when all three of Roo, Kosi and Wlikes were having quiet games you had to sub one of them.
Ray was very impressive I thought, and with Jack eligible to play...and we missed his pace and run in our midfield, and with Siposs going ok Watters may be tempted instead to go for just two tall forwards till if and when Stanley returns.

Re: Dunell & Siposs ?????
Siposs was solid but has lost his straight-kicking set shot prowess from last year.
Dunell was tough and used it prettty well. Not convinced he'll make it though, nothing in particular stands out about him and he is still very skinny

Re: Dunell & Siposs ?????
Much like BJ, Siposs can hit a target 55m away nine times out of ten but a 40m set shot is a struggle. It's all in the head, once he gets truly comfortable with the pace and intensity of the game he should settle down and start slotting them.dcstkfc wrote:Siposs was solid but has lost his straight-kicking set shot prowess from last year.

Dunell did everything we could expect of him. He is obviously a clean, one-touch player who can take a grab and uses the ball well. Being injected at half time into a very tough, contested game is a big ask for a first-gamer and he immediately came on and had an impact. He should get a few more games at least. He's the kind of player we need to pump experience into - a versatile, classy user of the footy with a mature head on his shoulders. What he now needs to work on is his workrate (he tends to drop in and out of games) and his strength. A few more games this year and a good pre season should see him have a serious crack at cementing a regular spot next year.

Re: Dunell & Siposs ?????
Well done Sam.
He must have shat himself when his first ball in AFL came towards him - well wide forcing him to take a horizontal slips catch.
But he nailed that and quite a few one percenters and tackles.
Promising debut.
Hopefully will play out the season.

Dunnell - Goddard will struggle to get back into the team.
At least until Goddard signs a new contract.

Re: Dunell & Siposs ?????
I like to see tall midfield players on the wings. They provide good exit targets out of defence and make it hard for opposition to exit their own defence.kimberly saint wrote:Thanks for the info.

Goddard on one wing and Dunnell on the the other.

yep. missed most of his tackles and was buffeted out of the contest a few times. that will have taught him a lot about what it will take at afl level.BigMart wrote:Dunnell.... Strength
he's young so there's time to fix it - look at how strong milne and montagna have become despite being very skinny at the start of their careers.

What i liked about both their games is , they did some classy things , they looked level headed , they didn't have any raph moments .
A good pre-season next year and they could be anything !
They along with others make the future seem bright !
