Will it be same old same old against Bombers??
Having sat through enough of these now I cant help but wonder if we'll turn up and just roll over again?
This year the tables have been turned on us - Richmond and now Nth are 2 sides we've notoriously beaten up who have both said "enough is enough" and got us. Do we have enough mettle to do the same this week against a side that annually smacks us?
Will we see;
1. Jobe Watson rack up his avg 30+ against us?
2. Paddy Ryder play his 1 "break out" Saints game a year?
3. Saints fwd 50 entry continuously bomb it on to Roo's head........and watch coast to coast Bomber goals from deep out of our fwd 50?
4. Kosi leap for 3 or 4 pack marks, drop 3 and after half time be unsighted?
5. Fletcher being told hes a constant "genius" in how he picks off saints attacks....(with no mention of the dumb upfield saints players bombing it in)
6. Nick Dal Santo doing nothing against Bombers as Hocking shuts him down
7. Saints charging for goals at the 27th minute mark of the last while we are 47 pts down?
8. Saints fwd 50 unable to keep any pressure or lock the ball in?
9. McEvoy monstered out of the middle.
10. Jason Gram attempting to spoil while completely missing the ball/contest or man or unable to kill it on the last line?
11. Bombers run us off our feet?
More of the same?

Add to that a Fletcher long bomb goal..
That list is hideously accurate Teflon..
Painfully accurate.. At least I know I'm not going crazy experiencing groundhog day against the bombers every year..

I feel it will be closer than most people are expecting. Just a hunch and I'm usually right if I may say so myself.
Both Fisher and Big Mac will be pivotal if we are to snatch this one.

Geez Id be wrapt IF we could turn the tables this time.....it would be huge for us, not just because of ladder and top 8 etc but perhaps its the psychological win over a so called emerging top 4 team that belt us each year we really need?Sobraz wrote:Add to that a Fletcher long bomb goal..

sick of these smug pr!cks....covering up the Locket end with the shambolic "Loyd " end at Etihad....what an insult to the games greatest goal kicker???, with their shytty "clash strip" efforts and arrogant insistence they didnt need one for so long? for their salary cap rorting (caught twice) and being whipped with a feather duster...
Their supporters seem to have this air of "superiority" about them (only when winning).......I mean Collingwood's are pure scum dont get me wrong... but at least they know theyre genuinely dumb...Essendon fans actually think theyre a cut above...
Im also no fan of Hill...ahhh...one could go on....and on.......

To answer your question, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't go that way. The common theme against this mob is they take advantage of our slow midfield and we haven't done anything to speed it up so I'm expecting a similiar result to what they usually do to us.

what you've just said... I imagine all of the scribes from the Age or Hun or whoever,
will simply copy and paste it, and use it in their post-game write-ups.
No need to change any of it.
Sadly; as predictable as another boat sailing in from the north. Same sh!e, different day.

Sydney and Carlton made the Saints blush last few times, those matches went OK.
What is significant is the changes in personnel since we last played them, fair few even just based on no late changes.
While I'm not sure what impact that will have on the game, can't say it's the same old list wise.
Out Goddard, Clarke, Stanley, Dawson, Peake, Gamble, Smith
In HAYES, Kosi, Simpkin, Siposs, Wilkes, Geary, Saad
Make of that what you will.

Devastatingly accurate.
The omission of T. Milera (in a game where pace is essential) is a good indication that the new coaching staff didn't experience our previous losses firsthand.

Milera isn't that quick and hasn't got near the ball for a long while.Waltzing St Kilda wrote:Devastatingly accurate.

Re: Will it be same old same old against Bombers??
Have been of the opinion for a few weeks that it won't be the same old s*** v Bummers...
They used to beat/trouble us when they had a lesser team. The reason they are traveling ok this year (ok, I know they are a top 4 chance but they always have the chance to unravel in any game, much like the Crows - all of these 'boom' teams of this season may find themselves wanting come finals time) is from a different game plan not entirely based on speed.
Keep Hurley and Watson quiet and they have no other options to help them win. I see no reason why we can't win.

I don't recall Hurley really being our problem - its always Watson, Ryder shows up then Hill goes fwd and does what Kosi should!!!stevie wrote:Have been of the opinion for a few weeks that it won't be the same old s*** v Bummers...

I agree with whoever said its our midfield leg speed that costs us and sadly we've not really addressed that...

It's because we've never bothered to tag Watson. Not sure why CJ has never sat on him in the past...He is, without a doubt, their engine room and without him firing they struggle!Teflon wrote: don't recall Hurley really being our problem - its always Watson, Ryder shows up then Hill goes fwd and does what Kosi should!!!
CJ must play tight on Watson and Dempster takes either Stanton or Davey.
We must win the midfield battle as their forward line will kill us. In short, we can't concede 60+ inside 50's this week or we will lose by 100+.

oh God
Jobe Watson 40 possessions
Fletcher long bomb goal.
What a nightmare it's going to be.
Why does every essendon player fire up against us?

Great list Teflon. I was cringing at each item.
Perhaps you could add "3a. Saints forward entry continuously kicking it low to Roo's ankles".

Re: Will it be same old same old against Bombers??
Bit harsh on Kosi's pack marking ability - currently ranked 7th in the AFL for contested marks.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.
