At first I thought Walls was just playing along, talking about how it comes to you in the middle of the night what to write and you cant wait to write it blah blah blah. Then I realised that he was in fact serious, and really took credit for getting hawthorn up. One particular thing that disturbed me was when he said, its good for the punters out there too, they think Oh they are a good bet this week.
So would he get on a team early when their odds arent so great after coming off a loss, then write an article to fire them to help his bet.
Maybe I just lack a sense of humour, but I was rather surprised by his comments.
Wouldn't surprise me if Walls was trying to supplement his income.
Sheedy was right about Walls.

Melbourne have now lost 8 games in a row with a particularly insipid gutless effort today against Sydney.
That makes 7 insipid losses.
And one full on 4 quarter effort against us.
Why us?

I agree that the Bulldogs were poor against us.
But I think Carlton were putting in - we just outplayed them and we had more intensity.

Lenny thinks the team was feeling qute shitty about the poor performance against Hawthorn. So they were really determined to lift the intensity, hence the real hard edge against Carlton.
I heard a great interview with Hayes on SEN. Lenny is chatty relaxed and informative to listen to, so check out saints.com.au - media etc. He backs up what i just said. The SEN team fawn all over him as well which is quite amusing. http://www.saints.com.au/radio%20interv ... fault.aspx
The way we were portrayed pre season in the media we looked like an ex champion boxer wheeling ourselves out to take another pounding. Up and comers could see an opportunity to give a few handy blows and try to knock the last bit of life out of our corpse. I think it could even possibly explain the umpires lack of respect for us this year also, they just assume we deserve to lose because we are a falling star with a downward trajectory.
Teams like Melbourne have lost the mental battle before they arrive to a game against Collingwood or West Coast, we need to re establish a feared persona again. You could look at it as the Dees put in everything against a team on the slide and still came up short further eroding their motivation.
It's an incredibly even year and any team can get you if you nap for even a second. As much as every one says we have teams play well against us, we seem to lift for the bigger games. We were in the Hawks game and after seeing them sodomise freo I think we did well on their home ground. Psychologically we think were still a top team and see the s*** teams as target practice only they don't know their place anymore.
I'd say that was easily the most deperate effort from the Kangaroos this year.
They've been under the pump from experts like Caroline Wilson for weeks on the back of a series of insipid efforts.
Once again a side has lifted against us.

Walls is a t%rd, pure and simple, with a deep-seated hatred of St Kilda.
I reckon teams fire up against us because the bright colours (Red white and black) stimulate the brain. Plus the name 'St Kilda' conjours up all kinds of exciting associations...traditionally it was a Bohemian area. A fashionable seaside town with perhaps some ladies 'of easy virtue'? Music, drugs, the beach...all things that come to mind when you see the words 'St Kilda'.
The complete opposite to 'Hawthorn' (=boring).
In honour of those who went before, in the dark and desperate years.
The media have built up the idea that we are a falling empire ready to be defeated, gives them a psychological lift when they see vulnerability. Geelong used to beat the crap sides just by showing up and are now the same as us. They are having to earn all their wins.
Looks like lame-dog Bummers blew this theory out of the water tonight

yeah, but they also have twice as much reason to lose, because richmond will win. if the blues win then they'll go ninth, but if they lose then they'll end up eleventh. in fact, if we beat them by 170 points then they could even end up twelfth! how good would that be?
unlikely. but yeah, they could move two places up the draft order with a loss, so i reckon tanking is the order of the day for them. already they've brought in two debutants and a third gamer. if they're really tanking then i expect to see a late change - whaddya reckon, judd or murphy out for lucas or ellard?
