Dunnell looks a player. Simpkin is a class above in defence. Ledger has done some nice thing

really impressed by the sandy backline. Dowler has been excellent and simpkin his usual defensive self.
Dunnell exciting, plays tall. Markworth looks a level above.
Ray showing good leadership and curren developing a good ability to run with the oppositions best player.
If they are within a couple at three quarter time they are a big chance.

Archer, Shenton and Winmar have no future at AFL level and area liability for Sandy. Will play the year out at Sandy and should then be delisted. Makes room for our draft picks. Winmar another example of our poor selection in earlier drafts.

Simpkin, Dowler, Curren, Cripps & Dunell i reckon. Markworth & Ferguson extremely impressive aswell.

Winmar/Archer have no future IMO.

Best IMO

Dowler, Ray, Curran, Dunnell, Cooke, Ross

Great signs
Markworth, Minchington

Poor
Shenton, Winmar, Archer...... Really were not good enough

Peake was OK but his physicality was not good enough, Polo OK

Ledger was reasonable, turned it over a bit and I figured out why he can't get a game

Cripps 9 possessions, does some things but doesn't win enough footy. Better last Quater but only 4 at 3Q time.

Forgot to mention Tommy Curren, destroyed Valenti, who is probably the best player in the VFL, then when released in the last quarter, did some fantastic things including a brilliant goal after winning the centre clearance, then receiving a handball. He should be promoted next year

Ledger's disposal doesn't cut it, hope they are working on it at the academy...

Is there an acadamy? If so, who runs it and what happens there?

Whilst probably deserving of another senior game after his 2nd half, he is basically victim of healthy Saints list and dominate Zebs listed players.
This why one day I'd like to see every team have their own reserves team. That way we can see them play together, we can play them where we want etc. This alignment stuff is getting old.
from an article in the Age on the Carlton/ Northern Blues coaching change
" But the move partially backfired given the club's change of direction at the end of last season - from the Bullants to the Blues - as it adjusted to becoming largely a development squad for the senior group. With the competition poised for a name change and new identity in coming years, Carlton's VFL model is one that has been shrewdly managed in that it remains aligned to the Preston community with a number of home games being shared at Visy Park and Preston City Oval, yet is not classified as a stand-alone club. It saves up to $135,000 annually because of the arrangement.

Clubs such as Hawthorn, which has a strong relationship with Box Hill, and St Kilda with Sandringham, are heading in a similar direction.

A stand-alone licence in the competition - which Collingwood, Geelong and next year Essendon will pay - costs about $190,000 annually.

does anyone have $190,000 recurring.....

That the final score?
yes

2012 AFL Vic Development League
Port Melbourne 1.7 7.10 10.11 13.16 (94)
Sandringham 1.4 2.7 7.11 12.13 (85)

GOALS:
Port Melbourne: Edmondson 3 Allan 3 Gale 2 Thornton Breust Bond Morris Weightman
Sandringham: Michaliades 2 Meehan 2 Lourey Stapleton Fallon Brown Stevens Beech Mavric Widdowson

BEST:
Port Melbourne: Gale Allan LANGFORD Wall Thornton Purcell
Sandringham: Mavric Lourey Beech Webster Shakallis Plostins

yes
and from my observation- given I mainly took note of Saints listed players once I worked out which were which , and given they were overrun in the first quarter
Webster has a booming kick and got it forward from centre regularly- taller than he can appear..
Staley took a turn in the Ruck as did Lever and then down back.
and Crocker's game was the best I have seen from him for some time - and was still on the field- no injury or concussion etc etc-..
