And someone please tell me the selection for nomination of Rising Star is not chooklotto.
I'm not saying Sippa was a cert to win it, I just don't understand their logic.

Re: Siposs Rising Star??
Its not judged on weekly performances, which is ridiculous. You need to put in consistent performances over 3-4 weeks before getting a nomination it seems. Still ridiculous Clay Smith didnt get it Round 1.

I am not sure it is ridiculous at all. What if amazingly you were second best for 22 weeks. Should you miss out. It should be over a few weeks unless there is an outstanding performance. Obviously none this week.
Re: Siposs Rising Star??
I think this weeks nomination is a bit silly.
When you know your opponent was down in the rooms in the first 4 minutes with a calf strain, it's got to feel a bit hollow.

So whoever it was put in a great performance throughout the pre-season and at pre-season training?stkildathunda wrote:Its not judged on weekly performances, which is ridiculous. Yeah...logic did not prevail on the Smith non-award. 20 touches, 4 goals...hmmm
If a youngen of our returned those kinds of results for a game we would have blown our loads or had kittens or jumped up and said 'yey'.

Re: Siposs Rising Star??
It isn't ridiculous at all. Claye Beams was instrumental in his Brisbane's victory over Melbourne. Hard to think it now, but Brisbane went into that game underdogs. Melbourne had finished above Brisbane last year with twice as many wins - and they were at home. Beams spent most of the game on Moloney who had been one of the leading clearance players in the AFL in 2011. Beams had 25 touches to Moloney's 13.stkildathunda wrote:Still ridiculous Clay Smith didnt get it Round 1.
Smith had four goals and 13 touches in his side's loss to West Coast before being subbed off due to severe cramping. He could have got the nomination, he just didn't. Beams was judged to be better. I watched both games and would have gone the same way the selectors did.
The selectors do tend to err on the side of players involved in a win. Only GWS players have been nominated after a loss. Oddly enough, prior to Talia's selection, every nominee had come out of GWS and Melbourne games. Defenders are rarely selected for defensive efforts, but I think Talia's selection shows how high Roo is regarded - and how slim the pool is this year. I think it's time for them to change the restrictions. For me, Zorko is the Rising Star of the weekend. I don't see why he shouldn't be eligible. Or Ahmed Saad. Or Terry Milera. IMO, the 10-game cutoff is enough.
Yeah nah pleasing positive

If age didn't come into it. Giles from gws would win for sure. You need to have a age limit, was podsiadly a rising star in his first year? Doubt it? He was in his prime day 1

We all know he's a rising star. He's getting better every week, throw in the experience from this year and another preseason under his belt and we're going to see a really, really good player. That right foot of his is golden.
