Milne.. time is up
Watching tonight and the last 2 weeks before there is no 2nd efforts without the ball, no defensive pressure he has either seen the game go by or has fallen in to bad habits with Saad and Milera there to do it for him. Big test for Waters to jump on this and demand more and he is bludging defensively

Re: Milne.. time is up
Ridiculous thread.
He is the kind of player who goes missing and suddenly materialises late in a match, like tonight.
Wouldn't surprise me if he dobs 5 goals next week.

Ofcourse he'll kick 5 - but dont ask him to slot the goal HIS JOB away in an 8 pt game...that requires composure and he has none.

Re: Milne.. time is up
Milne must have a spell in the magoo's.
For a senior player this year he has shown a distinct lack of on-field leadership, his continual refusal to jump for a mark and instead try to work his opponent under the ball is becoming infuriating, and to top it off he has missed quite a few CRITICAL, easy shots at goal this year, tonight being the most glaring.

Re: Milne.. time is up
Was almost the man who won us the match in the end.
Kicked crucial goals- set up Armo a sitter who then missed....
3.3 for a small forward is a good return.
vs
Riewoldt 2.1
Kosi 0.1
Milera 0.1
Schneider 2.0
And you think Milne cost us the game.
I'd suggest either get a grip or loosen it buddy.

Re: Milne.. time is up
I think the times up for ridiculous threads like this to be erased. Or at least amalgamate them all into one dumb thread.
Re: Milne.. time is up
Kicked a few junk goals...missed the crucial ones when it mattered.
Milne, Kosi and Blake are great club men...but tough decisions need to be made at the end of the year. Lack of height may save some.

His time may well be up... Thank Christ we won't be relying on your evaluation of his worth. Why not barrack for the Craw, their fans clearly don't understand te game.

I don't think anyone is saying Milne cost us the game, but two quick goals after the Crows prematurely took their gloves off doesn't hind the fact that his disposal and erratic behavior around contests make him a bit of a liability.
I don't think Milne is done for, but I think a spell, maybe a few wouldn't hurt. The guy is 32, playing more 6 days breaks and interstate trips than humanely reasonable.
I'd suggest either get a grip or loosen it buddy.

Re: Milne.. time is up
Not only is he a liability on goal game after game - but his continuing to rely on initiated body contact (defended over the top and the ball to the bounday and safety as an example tonignt), his very ordinary use of the ball in general field play (a woeful, limp handball resulted in Adelaide running off for a goal as an example tonight), his lack of intent or effort on defensive plays, his inability to lead as a target (compare to Saad) and his refusal to play as a small forward (compare to Steven roving Kosi) have his papers marked.
Should have traded him to the romantic Sheedy (his first coach and the resultant publicity Sheedy would have thrived on) as an AA player when he still had currency.
Has none now and the opportunity has been missed.

Time is not up.
But
If he's not going to even try to mark the ball, the mids should kick to someone else and he can chase the crumbs. It's what he does best.

I'm a bit confused, who is the whipping boy this week?
Could you all be a bit clearer...
I'm thinking it's no longer Gram, not Gilbert....
Least your all consistent in your inconsistency

Re: Milne.. time is up
Disappointing how critisism by fans of players performances turn in to personal attacks. Having posted it last night i watched a game from last year and the pressure acts and 1 percenters i maintain are still not there. Sure he can pop up and kick a couple afetr doing nothing for a game but I do not think we are good enough for that and clearly RL did not either , hence why Milne was an AA last year - he tackled, harrassed, gut ran to the wing, assisted with goals, as well as kicked them.
I think the heat on the "effort" things need to be turned up on him as we are a better forward line with 5of 6 who can chase and harras rather than only 4.

Re: Milne.. time is up
He had a poor night but he won't be dropped and neither should he be. 2013?? who knows but in the right here and now he's our 2nd best goal scorer. His chase and pressure have dropped off and I'm sure Scott will remind him of the team ethos.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.
Re: Milne.. time is up
He is old and tired.
The guys 30 and over would feel the pinch more than most.
I don't think he doesn't give a stuff, more than he is stuffed.

Re: Milne.. time is up
For the first time, Milny is under pressure to lift his game, particularly his intensity. Let's see what he can deliver. He looks at times to be playing like a park footballer. In his role, those easy 35 metres out, dead in front shots are "must kicks." That's his role. Very deflating for those who have worked hard to get the ball in there. Saad, Milera, Schneider, Milne. There is not room for all of them in the same game. Fortunately for him, Milny has the score on the board to date. Let's see whether he can lift.

Don't think he's finished, but surely in need of a spell.
