4 games in 24 days
Whilst there was allot of things i liked about tonights game , I wondered if the schedule may have caught up with us . the tigers deserved to win cos they looked like they were hard at at ball all night , we seemed lacklustre at times .
once again the same players were making the same mistakes !

Re: 4 games in 24 days
Of course it matters. May not excuse the loss, but 3 x 6 day breaks in a row for an injury depleted side, it clearly takes a toll.
Bad management is bad management

Re: 4 games in 24 days
Interesting, Richmond only has 1 instance of consecutive 6 day breaks (2 in a row) and this comes in the last 2 rounds. It makes a difference. BJ alluded as much when I heard him interviewed on the way home from the game.
Funny how the 'that is just the way the draw is' excuse comes out whenever it is mentioned by supporters. Some of the other teams don't cop 3 consecutive 6 day turn arounds, which for us included a Monday night game at home, a Sunday game at Subi and then a Friday night game back at Etihad. Add to that being undermanned and this team did magnificently tonight and almost pinched it. Watch out for us in the second half of the season after a break and the return of key personnel.

Dont agree with this bar when at the mid ground ball ups.SainterK wrote:Agree with this.chook23 wrote:Get it bloody right 4 games in 18 days............................probably the difference in the last 10 min
7 behinds in a row when the Saints had the control and forward pressure working beautifly was the straw on teh camels back. 3 Goals there would have brtoken the Tigers spirit.
Leaving Jack 30m free late in the last quarter spelt free goals in my book.
Plenty of poistives to take from this game given that we have 3 talls missing from the side including our backline master. Tiges midfield is good if not one of the best in the league so the hit outs advantage was huge to Richmond.
# Frees surprised me given the number of times Nick was scragged out of contests and this was only recognised late in the game.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

The problem with this comment is we had no right to still be in the game. Beaten all around the ground and still could won it. Just reckon we werent good enough but effort and fitness werent the excuses.

That's is how it appeared to me.plugger66 wrote:The problem with this comment is we had no right to still be in the game. Beaten all around the ground and still could won it. Just reckon we werent good enough but effort and fitness werent the excuses.
But we had 8 more inside 50's. That's a key stat to win but not win the game.
I think numbers lie in some cases though......
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
Re: 4 games in 24 days
I thought it was 50/50 around the ground. we were more efficient with the ball.
The two differences.
1 Jack scored a bag out of history
2. we had 33 shots to their 31 and missed a lot including a couple of sitters.
They won because they scored when they should have.
We finished with as much run as them.

in the white heat of the last 10-12 mins many of ours were running on the spot
infact hayes...steven had heavy boots all night
have no doubt the ridiculous 4 games in 18 days played a part..................too many were not on the toes for a big game because of it.
Wish the thread title was correct

Re: 4 games in 24 days
Throughout the whole game the saints played in spurts.... no doubt the 4 games in 18 days made a difference, having said that kicking 1.8 in third didn't help our cause and geeez it was a great game to watch.
I'm not disappointed at all..... at lot to like all round.

Re: 4 games in 24 days
The thing is the lack of accuracy is also due to fatigue ... heavy legs can make players push their shots one side or another, or make the kick fade ... look how many times that happened in the 3rd and start of the last quarter.
So it's not just fatigue from 4 in 18 days making it difficult to run out the game, but also affecting the accuracy of the players

As far as our run goes, have to say GWS, Dogs, Demons, North winning would be nice

Re: 4 games in 24 days
I think our next six day break leading into the Adelaide game will be crucial. Its a six day break. Its Interstate. Its on the back of another Interstate game (Gold Coast). It all adds up to 4 SIX DAY BREAKS in 5 weeks, with three of these being interstate !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
