Best Team of the Century in AFL?
As an interesting hypothetical, if every player of every club's team of the century was in their prime, and a full season and finals were played, who do you think would win the flag?

I think it would depend how many team of the centuries had players from the last 20-30 years in it. Obviously the older guys just wouldnt be big enough to player where they were picked. For example the Doc and John Nicholls at Carlton.

Dunno.
But we'd be runners up.

Good post, needs to be approached 2 ways.
Avg statistics of each player in each team of century vs opposition, going by position only. (Might be harder to obtain for the older blokes)
Each players intangible influence on a game, ie: Reputation, leadership, 1 percenters, etc
Anyone got links to all the team of the centuries as they currently stand? What are the equivalents for the interstate sides?

Good point P66. I think the (complicated) way around that is to estimate how big the older guys'd be if they were of the current generation. Just like, conversely, on average today's players would all be smaller if they were born and playing in the first half of the 20th century.plugger66 wrote:I think it would depend how many team of the centuries had players from the last 20-30 years in it. For example, my good self, born in 1887 and played at 193cm. Not many contemporaries of the day were that tall. If born instead in 1987, with better nutrition, etc, etc, I reckon playing height would be comfortably more again than 193cm...
It's Dave, man. Will you open up? I got the stuff with me! -------Who?

We'd beat the Dogs TOC...it laughably has Darcehole in it
But seriously, if any of the other teams could handle our fwd line of Plugger, Buckets and Doc, well good luck.
I reckon our TOC could possibly win it
