West Australian Umpires
Seriously what's the go with this?
The Eagles are getting a dream run in at least every home game and I heard that West Australian umpires are used to officiate in these games!
What kind of mickey mouse competition are the AFL running and what the **** are they thinking allowing this blatant bias to exist in the first place let alone continue on!
The stats in favour of West Coast are off the scale and without even bothering to check I'd assume it would be a very safe bet that West Australian umpires officiated today's game!
The AFL are incompetent and anyone who does not think umpires cheat is deluded!
So if anyone would like to correct me and reveal as to which state these umpires came from, please do!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think they cheat but clearly they are fallable and respond to criticism through their decision making - IMO it's reactive.barks4eva wrote:Seriously what's the go with this?

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Ok so only one this time!!!!!!!!!!
Regardless they were absolutely pathetic and once again umpires helped destroy the game
While there are too many instances to mention all, I cannot believe Lenny Hayes got pinged just before quarter time
tackled held the ball for a second then hand balled
umpires either cheated, umpired to crowd noise or dropped LSD before the game and imagined they saw something that did not actually happen

The umps are certainly love Cox.
Soft free after soft free - most direct in front of goal.

Re: West Australian Umpires
Where they're born is not the point...the free kick differential over the past 10 years clearly shows that umpires, where ever they're from, are prone to a bias when the Eagles play in Perth.
It must have something to do with the influence of a large partisan crowd can have over the mind of an individual. I think it's something the AFL will address - it's becoming laughable.

Including one that was an absolute joke.
Natunia as going up the ruck....Cox was clearly behind and looking to come in late....BUT the frickwitt umpires pay a ruck infringement to Cox as if he was in the ruck contest which he clearly was not. Unerant goal to Weagles against the flow of play in the second quarter.
Last quarter...Lenny copes one to the face...goes down...but umpires call play on.
One of the most biased umpired games I have ever seen.

The umpiring was clearly disgraceful for most of the game.
The AFL need to pay more for umpiring/umpires because it is clearly amateurish.

Re: West Australian Umpires
So what was the free kick count?
And how many 50's have we had all year? (not many IMO)

Re: West Australian Umpires
Sure, there were some questionable decisions throughout the game. But it didn't lose us the match. 1st half we were horrid, and if your 49 points down at 1/2 time then usually you're not going to win.
The free kick count was 25-16 Eagles way. Although Wilkes gave away at least 3 or 4 frees right in front of goal from pushes in the back and holding on to his man.

Re: West Australian Umpires
around 6 goals from frees i think final score flattered eagles imo should of been under 15 points and if it was in melbourne we would of killed them

Agreed. Wilkes is a forward, not a defender.Sainter93 wrote:Sure, there were some questionable decisions throughout the game. But it didn't lose us the match. 1st half we were horrid, and if your 49 points down at 1/2 time then usually you're not going to win.

But when we were coming back at them and got within 15 points, crucial free kicks to us were ignored, which would have been fair enough, but an incorrect decision was paid the other way right in front of goal - and then, just to compound this, a very technical free was paid in a centre square infirngement when the ball was bounced. And again, and again.
It seemed very biased to me and it seemed very biased to football commentators with no link to the Saints as well.
Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

Re: West Australian Umpires
Spot on SaintRising.
That free to Cox (and another goal from a free to him) was unbelievable because as you say he was not the contesting ruckman - he has looking to be the third man up and Blake negated him by attempting the same - and they collided hip and shoulder.
Play on.
The habit of WCE players telling the umpire about decisions impacts as well.
They are adept at appealing for free kicks and incite the crowd resulting in pressure on the umpires.
It is a deliberate tactic - and it is currently working a treat.
We have seen what WCE are like when they travel so they are no threat for the premiership.

Re: West Australian Umpires
If a professional footballer gets to play under the same umpire often enough he will learn how to milk frees from that umpire.
It is not the umpire cheating, it is not really the player cheating, he is working within the rules of the game.
It is the AFL cheating.
The AFL is using at least one WA umpire per match.
This is a political decision by an AFL CEO more interested in the politics of the game than the integrity of the sport.
With only 4 WA umpires, players of both West Coast and Fremantle get to play under the same umpire at least once every four games.
Victorian based teams never get to experience any umpire with the same frequency.
The result is an unfair advantage to the WA teams.
But once again the politics of the AFL is that as many as possible interstate teams must make the finals.
Once all teams from a state are eliminated the media and hence the AFL profile, for which read revenue, in that state vanishes.
Is the game corrupt? Who knows.
Is the administration corrupt? For a $2 million salary, who would not stretch the boundaries a little.

Re: West Australian Umpires
They don't like getting boo-ed !!!
having watched the replay , everytime there was a contest where the eagles didn't win the ball the crowd would start moaning !
By the time there was half a dozen such contests , if no free was forthcoming the crowd were loudly boo-ing . Eventually when one was paid , the bronx cheer went up like it was the first free they had recieved all day .
In reality the longest they went without a free was a 10 minute period in the second quarter .
in contrast we had a 25 minute period in the first quarter and a 26 minute period from the start of the third without a free !

Re: West Australian Umpires
Free kick count to half time WCE 11-St Kilda 10.... End of game it was WCE 25 - St Kilda 16 !!! So we got 6 free kicks for the entire second half ... Not saying we would have won but how can you explain only 6 free kicks in a half of footy the mind boggles
