Riewoldt's less capable cousin
Let us never complain again that we missed out on this over-rated dud, apart from the odd hanger he is so often in-effectual it's not funny.
Armo is fine in my book…
I would rather bemoan missing out on any of the following, who came later in the same draft, than jack… who does just that.
Hamspon, L Jetta, Grigg, Dawes, Tippett, Alwyn Davey, T Goldstein, Robbie Gray, Goldsack, J Westoff

certainly not his fault they lost.
im not getting in to the comparisons or armo argument.
but to call him a lazy dud is just outrageous.

True, I am being harsh…BigMart wrote:All Australian, B&F, Coleman medal. Not a dud IMO.
Thought the tigers were very good tonight, with 66 inside 50's they were crying out for someone to take a mark… Jacks 8 touches & 1 snag didn't really get the job done… they could have done with a Kosi down there.

He got his hands to a lot of balls.
But they didn't stick.
They would have stuck for his cousin.

Re: Riewoldt's less capable cousin
When we play the RFC go and sit behind the goals and watch J Riewolt.
I think Jack reads the ball in play exceptionally well, and knows how to out position his opponent accordingly and take a great overhead mark. And he's v good when the ball goes to ground and can take a snap pretty well also. Imo he's got a natural instinct for the game and you cannot teach that. With the talent he's got i reckon he's an asset to any forward line. He will take the oppositions best backman every time.
To the point of your dud claim- yes that's a harsh assessment.
Armitage is fine in my book too. He plays a differnt role to JR obviously. When Lenny was down last season we were lucky to have him fill that hole. So i'm not sure i'd trade Armo for JR.

Reckon they messed with him, with the whole 'play team footy Jack'
Did it matter if he was a bit hungry, when he was kicking bags of them?

Re: Riewoldt's less capable cousin
They are deliberately playing around him so they don't do what we did. As good as Rooey was we over relied on the big man. In GFs he didn't get the freedom he needed and was less dominant, you need a multi pronged attack on goal not a canon used as a fly swatter. It will make Richmond a more dangerous outfit but probably will frustrate Jack.

Re: Riewoldt's less capable cousin
Jack R just didn't position himself well in a lot of contests last night, but I reckon he will still improve over the next couple of years. As for cousin Nick in GFs, his big problem was that got beaten by his opponent.

that's exactly why you don't want 90% of your scoring from one source. You rather 5 players kicking 3 goals each than one forward kicking 10. Otherwise one bad game and it's all over.
Re: Riewoldt's less capable cousin
By winning the Coleman he proved his chops IMO. I like Armo, but I thought at the time and I still agree that passing over Jack was not a good idea.
