Re: Burkie telling it like it is
That is a wonderful article. I think Burkie really articulated his point well. Surely Banger will be included this year.

Re: Burkie telling it like it is
Is he subtly turning Harves against Collingwood or am I over analysing?
Re: Burkie telling it like it is
Interesting point FQF.
I also wonder how Banger would have developed as a coach in our current structure, particularly with the Academy. Certainly would have been a good opportunity for him to continue to learn his craft. Having said that, Collingwood's Football Dept has a wealth of resources and would no doubt be cutting edge. Still an excellent opportunity for him.

As a former rover, it is a word with which he should be most familiar.Waltzing St Kilda wrote:He misspells "minuscule".

Very true article.
The words "Collingwood" "Carlton" "Essendon" is Demetriou porn.

Re: Burkie telling it like it is
I used to think in the days when the newspapers never used colour photos. that the reason that Collingwood was so popular with the media was because a black and white photo of them was a colour photo. Anyway, I have been following the Saints and Footy for well over 60 years, and I can tell you that things have not changed. Collingwood, Essendon, and Carlton are still the darlings of the media and the AFL.

More Dane today.
Kangaroos, StK and the Bulldogs have little or NO chance for competitiveness against the big boys unless they get equal share of the limelight.
But the AFL is not about fairness and equality, it's about MONEY!!!

"Miniscule" appears to be a somewhat accepted variant simply because it is so widely used. The battle of "mini" verses "minus" will be won on the pages of wrath - or Saintsational.Waltzing St Kilda wrote:He misspells "minuscule".
Re: Burkie telling it like it is
I remember the fantastic tribute the AFL did for Banger's retirement on Brownlow night, they do know who he is. The Pies sell papers - simple, but I think the judging panel are a little smarter than the Hun's readers. Time will tell, personally I think he was better than them all and should be included imediately.
Re: Burkie telling it like it is
Burkie mentions Nicky Winmar in the article. It always pi$$es me off that Michael Long is always rated ahead of him, clearly 'cos he played for the bummers, under Sheedy, who together as we have heard all week ad nauseum, have done "great things" for indigenous Australians.
Can't remember Long ever kicking 8 then 9 goals in consecutive weeks when moved to full forward whilst injured.
If he had have, we'd still be hearing about it, mainly from Kevin "I love reminding everyone of all the great things I've done" Sheedy.
Neil Elvis was HEAPS better than Long.

Long. Most overated player I have seen. Yes he had a great finals series an GF in 93. Facts are. He couldn't mark. Had no right side and even on his left side he couldn't kick over a jam tin.Bad Co. wrote:Burkie mentions Nicky Winmar in the article. Winmar was a class above most. He was 2 classes above Long. Comparisons I find laughable.
