triple six day breaks inovolving a perth trip
trip to perth with a six day break......................trip back...............
Sydney here six day break
and the Tigers again after six day break on the Friday night
COULD WELL have concrete in the boots against Swans and EVEN more so against Richmond
Really testing period.

Can win all of them - Scott is confident it doesn't matter- he must have some left over Collingwood marching powder.

Can/could etc but 3 games in 12 days with a perth trip involved MAKES the task very difficult.gringo wrote:Can win all of them - Scott is confident it doesn't matter- he must have some left over Collingwood marching powder.

Re: triple six day breaks inovolving a perth trip
In the last five years we've probably had more six day breaks than any team , so the boys should be used to it !

Don't see a problem with it, no excuses imo. Isn't it the natural cycle to go from a Sunday game to a Friday game.
Unless of course there is evidence that other teams don't have 3 6day breaks straight, then it is harsh.
Also i hate the interstate trip excuses, if that's an excuse then eagles and dockers should be using it every week. If a plane ride effects a team 2 weeks after then they are not elite athletes.

Actually going from Monday to Friday. No other team does that.Griggsy wrote:Don't see a problem with it, no excuses imo. Isn't it the natural cycle to go from a Sunday game to a Friday game.

Just train lightly during the week should help that problem.

Re: triple six day breaks inovolving a perth trip
The AFL's obviously softening us up for the Suns game.
Will be a tough gig after we come through this multiple short break period. Even though we'll finally get an 8 day break we'll have to travel again to take on the newbies.
It's a conspiracy I tells ya

Re: triple six day breaks inovolving a perth trip
Only one other instance of 3 consecutive 6 day breaks.
In 2006 we also had 3 consecutive 6 day breaks
R4 Monday v Port at Football Park (SA)
R5 Sun v Freo at York Park (Tas)
R6 Sat v WBD at Docklands
R7 Fri v Geel at Docklands
so no trip to Perth, but two interstate trips.
In 2004 we played on Mon then Sat - a 5 day break
R4 v Rich at Docklands
R5 v Adel at Football Park (SA)
5 days + an interstate trip

Re: triple six day breaks inovolving a perth trip
That's so manly of you...but it's not an excuse at all but a fact that a 6 day break either end of a Perth trip is a killer but to then follow up with another six week break is practically unheard of. We'll be very lucky to win 2 out of the 3.Griggsy wrote:Don't see a problem with it, no excuses imo. Isn't it the natural cycle to go from a Sunday game to a Friday game.

Re: triple six day breaks inovolving a perth trip
It is nothing short of idiotic fixturing by the AFL.
We have already done Sun/Sat/Fri this year, but this one takes the cake!
cue barks.....

Re: triple six day breaks inovolving a perth trip
On the one hand I agree with those saying "they're professional athletes", and that they should be fine.
However; the reality is, It is dumb fixturing. It is acutely unfair and it flies in the face of providing a level playing field.

Yep as dumb fixturing as us playing our first 5 games against sides who didnt make the finals last year.
Re: triple six day breaks inovolving a perth trip
I didn't reference who our opponent is/was. We have to play them all at some point this year. I am referencing the inconsistency in the scheduling of games. Can we stick to one topic at a time P66?

Yep you can spread them around and you can play good sides twice and you can have 6 day breaks in a row and you can whinge or you can just barrack for your side and hope they win.

Obviously you're OK with the issue at hand. Good for you.plugger66 wrote:The Jeff wrote:I didn't reference who our opponent is/was. We have to play them all at some point this year. I am referencing the inconsistency in the scheduling of games. Can we stick to one topic at a time P66?

I on the other hand agree with some of the issues raised on here and am enjoying the discussion. Perhaps you can leave us to it then. As for Sunday, even though we differ on opinion on this one, I'm sure we'll all join you in barracking for our team and hoping they win.

Re: triple six day breaks inovolving a perth trip
I do all that and but we still have a tough three weeks coming up. Now us supporters will whinge about it and we are entiltled to but the players will just get on with it as we'd expect them to.plugger66 wrote:The Jeff wrote:I didn't reference who our opponent is/was. There is no doubt and I never said it wasnt but it is swings and roundabouts. Had we won the first 5 which we really should have we would have been favourite against Carlton and a win then would have given us 6 out of 6 and all of a sudden the draw wouldnt have looked as bad as it obviously is now.

Re: triple six day breaks inovolving a perth trip
I never thought that we had an easy 5 games as it never works out that way. The game against Port was never a gimmie given their pre season form and I thought Freo would beat us simply becuae of the RL factor. Thought we'd lose against Hawks and Blues as well. It's the 3 six day breaks with the Perth trip in between which is a killer. Confident we are the only team that has to do that this year on top of the most six day breaks for any team.plugger66 wrote:

Our draw is reasonable in terms of team rankings from 2011 but in other ways it's not great at all. Anyway, the filth are choking so it's all good.
