Well I would like to see him star in any match he may play against Fremantle
Re: Tommy Walsh set for debut....
I don't hold any grudges against him. He simply couldn't get a game at St Kilda and was offered more money at the Swans. Good luck to him.
Re: Tommy Walsh set for debut....
Couldn't care less.
I am more concerned about Stanley, Saad, Milera, Sipposs, Simpkin etc etc etc.
If he was going to be anything other than a GOP he would have played longe before now.

Lance or James??

He has never played a senior game.
Re: Tommy Walsh set for debut....
Im torn for a different reason. I really don't want to listen/read about "How/why did the saints let walsh go" for the next 5years so I hope he's not a star. Nothing against him.

You mean kinda how everyone in the entire footballing world can't believe how they let Saad and Milera slip through their fingers...Griggsy wrote:Im torn for a different reason. "The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Exactly - win some, lose some.Thinline wrote:You mean kinda how everyone in the entire footballing world can't believe how they let Saad and Milera slip through their fingers...Griggsy wrote:Im torn for a different reason. We have lost on trades and players leaving. So far this year we have won with Saad and Milera (also got Seb Toss in the deal)
Haven't lost on Walsh. May yet do so, but he really hasn't come on the way the hype said he would and for the coin he was asking for, we had to let him go.
Remember we had to delist Blake from the vets list so we could get a higher paid vet on the list to free up SC. We are tight and couldn't afford to waste it on someone who may never be anything.
Anyway Simpkin is doing the job in the back half, and Stanly and Wilkes are doing the job up forward.
Lance or James??

I heard he wouldn't sing a new deal so Ross didn't play him.... rumor is TK was in his ear about a move to Sydney for a while.Old Mate wrote:I don't hold any grudges against him. He simply couldn't get a game at St Kilda and was offered more money at the Swans. Good luck to him.

For Walsh to have stayed...which established player did you want to ose instead...as salary cap meant we could not keep both.

Re: Tommy Walsh set for debut....
He is a star with the round ball - not so with the oval shaped ball. There is a huge difference in his abilities. Was worried after the international series, but then saw him in the NAB Cup and stopped worrying after that. he can probably monster some of the smaller players in the NSW State league or the VFL in patches, but that's about it.
Your friendly neighbourhood samurai.

Re: Tommy Walsh set for debut....
I was annoyed that he left (had to probably) St.Kilda without playing a couple of games. I understand that was all part of the Lyon era etc. but i like the idea that if Markworth does well i will cope better - good point.70s sainter wrote:Initially i was pissed, but im now happy with swap for Markworth.
The boy can play and we can build a defence around him that will have respect.

Re: Tommy Walsh set for debut....
I watched the NAB game live and watched him run around do jack all night. I was disappointed when he left but it wasn't like you could see a fundamental leap in his move to Sydney. After that I feel he probably still needs a couple of years just to make AFL standard as a GOP. I'm not expecting much so I might get a surprise if he does well. I think it's his gift game at the SCG against a Melbourne team that looks like they gave up weeks ago.
I'm a nice guy so I hope the Swans lose to Melbourne, Tommy gets 2 ordinary touches and a heap of cheap suspensions go against them softening them up for a Sainting.
