What's up with Sam GILBERT?
What's up with Sam GILBERT? It's like someone has stole any confidence he once had. His kicking and decison making is atrocious - perhaps like RAY he needs to go back to Sandringham and re discover the hunger and form.
WIll FISHER be available next week if so bring in FISHER for GILBERT as the only changes.

Re: What's up with Sam GILBERT?
He was the only issue..... And the only player I would have rated lower than 4/10 (Siposs aside, as sub)

He gave Walker a hiding so that's a positive.

Sadly you are right. No confidence and could be due a spell in the twos. Is a far better player than he is showing

Re: What's up with Sam GILBERT?
Yeah he looks lost that's why I made a comment about him being the king of clangers. He was disappointing again with his bad turnovers. Thought Gram was not that good either but still better than Gilbert.

A joke re Grammy surely, He was really good tonight.saintkid wrote:Yeah he looks lost that's why I made a comment about him being the king of clangers. He was disappointing again with his bad turnovers. Thought Gram was not that good either but still better than Gilbert.
Gilbo quiet, but as others have said his opponent probably only marginally shaded him tonight.

Please he had a shocker gifted Waite the first goal and made some howlers with his kicking...
Walker 11 kicks 3 Hb 6 Marks & 2goals 2 behinds.
Gilbert 8 Kicks 2 Hb 0 Marks .....
Reckon above says it all ....

Sorry we thought Gram was average. He also is a shadow of his 2009 form.

Re: What's up with Sam GILBERT?
I noticed Gilbert's body language was awful all night. Spent a lot of time lying on the ground feeling sorry for himself after contests, at one point Kosi walked up to him and quite aggressively pulled him up. If Raph continues to build up some form at Sandy then pressure on Gilbert's spot would be a good thing. Doesn't deserve a place in the team if he keeps serving that up. He's probably the only one who was disappointing tonight.

Spot on. Good to get a fair dinkum post from a fellow supporter that doesn't see things through rose coloured glasses. Gilbert was crap for most of the game. Simpkin shows tons more composure and decision-making than Gilbert.

Re: What's up with Sam GILBERT?
Raph needs to play at least a month of VFL to show his body will get through a game, even then you can't trust he'll stay together.
Give Gilbert a free wheeling role next week at Subi, should be able to run into some space over there

on top of Gilbert, Beau Wilkes also had a shocker... was thinking he would have been more of a leading target tonight.

You know, I thought surely Gram would get a rest tonight after a flawless game.... But alas, NO he was still singled out...
For doing absolutely zero wrong this time.....
We do realize he has had numerous dominant games since 2009 and he is in the best ten at the club.

Agree BigMart, Gram really pulled his weight tonight. Great game, kicked well... no cracks under pressure committed to the contest! can't naysay his performance tonight.

The stats confirm that Walker (who by the way was Carlton's leading goal kicker last year) had an average but not stunning night.... and that Gilbo didn't do much going forward.saintkid wrote:Middo wrote:Richter wrote: A joke re Grammy surely, He was really good tonight.

So I think we're in furious agreement, except that on a night when we should be celebrating the many positives there are some sad sacks who just can't help finding a coupe of players to sink the boots into.

Did anyone see the absolute spray Clinton gave Gilbert after he nearly gifted them a goal, lucky it was only a point.

Gilbert did a few good contests , won the ball , then immediately turned it over !
however he was still better than wilkes

Re: What's up with Sam GILBERT?
I'm sure the coach gives a rats, and of course Sam himself... Why would a defender come in for a forward cum midfielder???
Sam was noticeably our worst player tonight, Sam would be a straight swap for him.
Simpkin is going to hold Gwilt out on current form

You really have no idea. None at all.But it is funny and sad for for you. Maybe you should get a game for once instead of making bulls*** excuses. Moron.

I'm sorry plugger Gilbert was awful tonight when he had possession played well as a defender though!
