45 clearances, 45 tackles....

45 clearances, 45 tackles....
....ahead of his closest team mate.
How good is that?
flipside....
How bad is that?
Shows what an immense talent and player he is as far as worth ethic goes, but also highlights how much still falls to him.
Unless, we are structuring up different in the midfield to be more like Collingwood with a sole engine room player and I haven't noticed, but you'd have to think not?

Veteran, returning from a year out of the game, and probably leading the B&F...Spinner wrote:Yep....
Its embarrassing how a player coming off a knee reco at 32 is our best performed player to date.
Look, I realise he is someone we are going to brag to the next generation of Saints supporters that we got to see him live, but still, the midfield has to step up...and some.
What a player though, gotta love Lenny.
Re: 45 clearances, 45 tackles....
In total or more than his opponents?
In 6 rounds...? Do the math.
BS stat....Lenny has 45 tackles in total for the year...Next best is Armo 41, then Jones 40 and Steven 33.
Not sure of our individual clearance stats but that one is BS as well.

Is it embarrassing for the comp then that he's probably in the best half dozen or so performed midfield players across the league??..Spinner wrote:Yep....

Sure, our midfield depth leaves a lot to be desired, but that stat says more about Lenny than it does about Dal, Steven, Joey, Armo etc... He is just an enormous player..
His form first season post knee reco is the best I can remember any player returning... Im hoping that having two knee reco's (2 years out of the game) may prolong his career in terms of letting the rest of his body recover and heal, as he plays a very taxing game style...

His great return this year, just shows how much we missed him last year.

Re: 45 clearances, 45 tackles....
I think people were saying the same as Harvey in the winter of his career. In fact that is what people were saying about Burke and Harvey as early as 1999, that was why Watson tried to get both players out of the centre, he wanted to break down the dependence on what he saw as two soon to retire players, an approach that I initially supported until it became clear that they still had plenty of good years left in them.
As we saw last year when Dal and others had to step up to fill the void, someone will step up. Lenny will never be replaced, but I think when he bows out, we'll see the emergence of another fierce tackler and deft clearer. Hopefully that person is learning off Lenny the way that Lenny learnt off Harvs. Armo? Steven? Ledger? another player? Time will tell, but I'm not scared about it, I'm actually quite excited.
Still I'm glad that like Harvs, Lenny endures. Long may it be so!

whats worst for us is that four years ago when we were at our best ! lenny and ball were ranked 1 & 2 in these stats , but the next saint mid-fielder was ranked around the 30's.Spinner wrote:Yep....

Four years on and with no luke ball , its alarming that no one else has come through to challenge the old dog !

I've written this before but if Lenny plays as long as Harves, he will retire in 2019!!! Incredible how long Harves played.

The only players that he 45 ahead of are those who haven't played this year.
He has 45 total, not 45 ahead.

I heard this stat mentioned on the TV last night and thought it sounded very wrong at the time!

Most of them just talk sh!t to take up time and fill space.
The footy media these days is so diluted, it's barely worth listening to.
Re: 45 clearances, 45 tackles....
Good effort by Armitage due to his comparison numbers in the midfield
