PLEASE STKILDA BOARD let goddard and montagna go
and gram and anyone else over 29 who is uncontracted and asking for a lot of money ... EXCEPT REIWOLDT, HAYES and BLAKE! why? Because they are the heart and soul and leadership of stkilda.
Retire Milne honorably at years end.
This 2012 draft is reported to be a super draft I say we get as many picks as possible and rebuild for 2015+ flag
whos with me?
Seriously let em go lets stop mucking around.
Thank you goddard and montagna and gram you have been stkilda greats and we will always love you but one more job you can do for us... that is to leave and free up space thank you.

Fisher and Kosi stay too. Why?. We must protect the younger players with some bigger bodies. We will need them for 2013 I would say, while we build up KPPs/Ruckmen.

Re: PLEASE STKILDA BOARD let goddard and montagna go
We need to free up cap space we have to accept this era is done and get on with the new era which is VERY EXCITING. I for one am pumped about what steven, stanley, milera, cripps, newnes, simpkin, mcevoy, armitage etc etc are capable of. They have showerd great signs. We need to hurry up and get them friends. AND i repeat this 2012 draft makes 2001 draft seem shite!! Lets get on this draft! Goddard Gram montagna and Milne must go to do this.

Step 1 ... look into the future , decide what u see.
Step 2 ... re-check . (what will/should/could be)
Step 3 ... decide intent , construct plan.
Step 4 ... brainstorm flaws.
Step 5 ... re -jig plan , turn ship at target
Step 6 .... execute.
(.one of the obviousnessnesses under (s1) in my opinion , as mentioned by others

Goddard can't defend or kick in very well, Joey barely tries & is all about glory, Dal Santo is useless if tagged.

Yep lets trade genuine A graders for 18yo maybe's. It certainly has helped Melbourne and Richmond FFS this thread is the biggest load of garbage I have read yet!!!!!!!!!
Re: PLEASE STKILDA BOARD let goddard and montagna go
Pretty sure Pelchen as Head of Footy will have a big say in the strategy as will Scotty Watters. The board run the club (however badly) footy decisions are not their domain.

Re: PLEASE STKILDA BOARD let goddard and montagna go
I see the club culture of worshipping there better players continues. If the spoilt pretty boys want ridiculous money to the detriment of the club get rid of them!
There is no way Gram is worth the money he is being paid.... Is it any wonder they have never acheived success in the modern era - what a calamity of a football club!
What an administratively incompetent football club we follow - they are completly untrustworthy with the funding they receive!

You have access to the players contracts? You must be an employee or Jason Gram himself?

I apologise. Just read this article in today's HS, and now know where you are coming from. I was absolutely staggered to read that Kosi is on $500K a year and Gram is on $400K. It has to wrong or the person who does our contracts has gone completely mad. When you think that Travis Cloke only recently started earning $500k a year, and G. Ablett was reported to be on less than $400k before he went to GCS, some of our players must feel very sheepish about what they earn and be praying that it never gets revealed to the wider public.

Re: PLEASE STKILDA BOARD let goddard and montagna go
No probs Moods - I was staggered also when I read what they were earning. I think there is a case for all players contracts/earnings to be made public - after all it is public monies that fund the clubs & players !Moods wrote:Moods wrote:WinnersOnly wrote: There is no way Gram is worth the money he is being paid....

Re: PLEASE STKILDA BOARD let goddard and montagna go
lol at trading bj and dal
fantastic ball uses
one gets tagged nearly every week and one is in the top ten of the league
but lets trade them for some youth
obviously theres 100% chance that the youth will turn out better
id trade joey and gram
i dont see much else being of trade value

Re: PLEASE STKILDA BOARD let goddard and montagna go
Re Gram contract - need to check when it was done as if after the 2009 GF and for 3 years not surprised - he had just (almost) won a Norm Smith Medal and clearly back ended.
Kosi - again may involve some back ending and our lack of Size at this age does not surprise me.
Similar to an earlier post I think Monty must go out of all the "Stars" he is most dispensible and still hase to 15 draft pick value.
Blake - Retire
Milne - Retire
Resign
Hayes ( Scary - our best midfielder)
Siposs
Steven
Cripps
Stanley and othe youngsters mentioned
Goddard is a bit younger than others and must be kept he is a gun just sometimes misfires a little
Barring exceptional performances - Bye bye - Clarke, Ray, Polo, Peake, Gram ( delist or trade unless they will play real cheap)
Remember some of these contracts are post 2009 season when everyone was playing at best possible performance.
Get a couple draft picks in top 10 and by the time they need to be signed for big dollars many highly paid players gone so not such a big issue

Re: PLEASE STKILDA BOARD let goddard and montagna go
I think that if you are on a big pay packet and can't perform when it most counts- the Grand Final, then you should be under a lot of pressure to justify that big salary, and also to be at the club. I definately have quite a few of our experienced players in that category, and some are sacred cows to supporters, but if you want a premiership flag, then a club needs to make big calls.

Re: PLEASE STKILDA BOARD let goddard and montagna go
We're in a bit of a quandry with both BJ and Joey, as both are playing quite a bit below their best and BJ has been since 2010. If they don't lift in a big way then I think it would be irresponsible to pay them "overs" (what they were probably worth when they were at their best, a couple of years ago, but are not now), especially for longish term deals, which they'd probably want. We don't want to have a repeat of the Aaron Hamill situation, where we ended up paying him a mountain of money for 5 years, but got nowhere near value for money, in terms of on-field output (IMO).
Right at the moment I probably wouldn't want to pay Goddard any more than about $600K (unless we've been underpaying him in recent years and feel we need to compensate him for that). $600K+ is surely for "matchwinners" and he's not doing that at the moment.
On current form, if any club offered him $1mil or so, I think we'd have to pretty much say "thanks for your service and all the best", unless we see a big turnaround in form from next year onwards.

Re: PLEASE STKILDA BOARD let goddard and montagna go
Marquee players are the only ones worth demanding anywhere near $1m - eg players you build a club around, the Franklins, Abletts, Judd's and in his prime (not now) Riewoldts.
Would you really build a side around Goddard? - a floating defender ( v good one too) but hardly "spine" material? Look at it another way - what does Goddard give us that's hugely different to Sam Fisher??

Re: PLEASE STKILDA BOARD let goddard and montagna go
There seem to be a lot of people on here who are giving Collingwood supporter Michael Warner from the Herald Sun WAY TOO MUCH CREDIBILITY with what he wrote. How much of what he wrote is FACT and how much is SPECULATION? I have faith that Ahmet Bains & Chris Pelchen will work their way through the contract negotiations and come out the other side with the best possible outcomes for the St Kilda Football Club !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
Re: PLEASE STKILDA BOARD let goddard and montagna go
If Goddard gets a massive offer from another club then we have to match it or he can go. I think the board will let that one play out and see what happens. Joey on the other hand probably warrants floating around for some currency in the trade period. Delistings (I think there will be quite a few) are what will free up cash in our salary cap. Middle range players earning $200K+ should make way for a younger generation.

Re: PLEASE STKILDA BOARD let goddard and montagna go
people laughed at me when I suggested in the offseason that perhaps we'd seen the best Monty had to offer and perhaps he was our most dispensible player for a 1st rounder (if we can get it)
interesting how the tables have turned
