Positive note (Game Plan Is Evident)
I applaud Scott Watters for his game plan with kicking long and fast ball movement being very prominent. At times I thought we looked skillful and well drilled on the fast break which caught the Hawks out numerous times on the fast break.
I don't think we could ask for a better teacher of Football at present with such a young list starting to get more opportunities at our club, slowly the wheel will turn.
Montagna =Front runner and trade bait.
Go Saints..................

Many many positives out of tonight - not least of which is the game plan
Failure cannot succeed in the face of persistence......
Re: Positive note (Game Plan Is Evident)
We seem a bit handball happy. It's disheartening watching the guys shovel it off to someone in a worse position to them, over and over for about 20 seconds, before finally releasing it to the opposition. Even worse when inside our own forward 50. Better to kick it to the top of the square and really put the pressure on.
I think we should be kicking longer more quickly after gaining possession. But there's simply nobody up the ground to kick it to.

Re: Positive note (Game Plan Is Evident)
Our game plan is giving us opportunities to convert fast, impressive ball movement into goals. Unfortunately we usually convert this movement into a turnover and then an easy end-to-end goal for the opposition. The 22 players currently in the team don't have the footskills to play this game plan effectively.

Was a pity we kept F@#$ing things up with poor disposals .
the soft frees that gave the hawks breathing space in the 2nd and 3rd quarters didn't help either !

The ease at which Hwthorn scored was not so good, luckily they kicked poorly.
Lack of accountability by our HB Line was ridiculous..... And inability to lock down was evident

Yes game plan is good.
It is our woeful turnovers that are killing us. We should have been in front at hafl-time, but were not simply because we gave the ball back to the Hawks way too often.

I like our new game plan alot, just need to convert more. Defence has some holes that need a plug. overall with where we are at I am happy.

I noticed this happened just outside the attacking 50 quite a bit tonight, I'll watch the replay, but it appeared guys like Rhys/Siposs don't have the confidence yet to attack-attack.battye wrote:We seem a bit handball happy. I thought it was Goddard who was s***....oh that was last week......
Lewis beat Judd last year, he must be s***....
Is it the case, whenever a player gets well held....he is a front runner or soft.
Lewis said he did a job on Dal because he was identified as our best player..... Joey is not playing well, but is a great player....

Then why do you think we should kick it long if there's nobody to kick it to? That's ridiculous.battye wrote:We seem a bit handball happy. Re: Positive note (Game Plan Is Evident)
Agreed, and Watters has REPEATEDLY referred to skill and execution, and Gwilt, Schneider and Sipposs and how the side really need to get them into it. Skill gap has been identified - for the first time since it was obviously a problem... that last day in 2009.mad saint guy wrote:Our game plan is giving us opportunities to convert fast, impressive ball movement into goals.
