Stephen Milne - Now in the top 50 ever!
Not only has Stephen achieved the 500 goals milestone, he is also now in the top 50 goalkickers ever (Jonathon Brown is number 49, as an indication of player quality). By career end, it is likely that Stephen will move into the top 40.
I note that Nick Riewoldt is not far behind. He needs just 16 goals to reach 500. If he does, it will be the first time in VFL/AFL history that two 500+ goalkickers have played in a team at the same time. Joy, especially ultimate joy, is elusive for Saints supporters, but that will be something worth celebrating.

Lockett and Loewe played in 18 games together when they career totals were 1000 goals or better (best total was 1147(Lockett 898 Loewe 249 vs Collingwood Rd 23 ' 1994))
Lockett and Winmar played in 10 games together when they career totals were 1000 goals or better (best total was 1106(Lockett 898 Winmar 208 vs Collingwood Rd 23 ' 1994))

That's right. When Kevin Bartlett retired at the end of 1983, Michael Roach had kicked 369 goals. And in any event, I don't like Richmond.

I might post a photo of me and Harves and say "these blokes played 383 games and won two Brownlows between them"Con Gorozidis wrote:so at sydney - every single player played with lockett had a total goals over 1000.mcadam05 wrote:perfectionist wrote:Not only has Stephen achieved the 500 goals milestone, he is also now in the top 50 goalkickers ever (Jonathon Brown is number 49, as an indication of player quality). But not playing for the same club. History seems to forget that almost two thirds of Plugger's goals were for the Saints.Con Gorozidis wrote: so at sydney - every single player played with lockett had a total goals over 1000.
But by the end of Round 4 1934 Jack Carmody (2) and Gordon Coventry (998) had kicked a thousand goals between them for Collingwood. Well done Jack.

Re: Stephen Milne - Now in the top 50 ever!
And just looking at the list, no other pair is within cooee. In fact, if the feat is ever to be equalled, I reckon neither player is currently playing in the AFL, perhaps not even born....it will be the first time in VFL/AFL history that two 500+ goalkickers have played in a team at the same time...
Of course, there is a rather negative corollary to this statistic, but I prefer not to think about it.

Was lucky enough to watch Milne's debut @ Footy Park against Port. Was a rare positive from a dreadful night.
Great career to this point.

maybe Con can tell us who at Sydney did Lockett play with who would add up to a total of a 1000 career goals for the Sydney Football Club because for the life of me I can't find one

lockett + anyone = >1000 totalmcadam05 wrote:maybe Con can tell us who at Sydney did Lockett play with who would add up to a total of a 1000 career goals for the Sydney Football Club because for the life of me I can't find one
isnt that what u were summing ? so folling your argument
if roo + milne = >1000
and locket + loewe = >1000
THEN - at Sydney
Lockett + absolutely anyone = >1000
i was making the point that once locket passed the 1000 = then anyone who entred the field had a dual total over 1000 with locket.

But mcadam05's post was about players who had kicked goals for the same club. And Lockett kicked less than 500 goals for the Swans.

ok so he was summing where the goals were scored - not just the sum of the totals they were on at the time in the same team.
ok gottya. well the yes. thats harder to do! ok. macca you need to present your methodology in the appendix.
so under that methodology - then yeah plugger + mickey o would have only scored around 700 together.

It does appear Riewoldt/Milne & Carey/Longmuire will be only players to do it kicking them at same club.Leo.J wrote:Dunstall and Salmon in 1998

I was refering to the OP, saying that Rooey and Milney we the only 2 in history to play in the same team having kicked 500+ each, didn't know it was meaning all kicked at the same club.kosifantutti wrote:Not for the same team though.Leo.J wrote:Dunstall and Salmon in 1998
