The W-Train must be kept in the side!
3 goals, one from 55m near the boundary, looked dangerous everytime the ball came in, takes the heat off Riewoldt and Stanley--do you think he has earnt a spot next week? I BLOODY WELL DO!!!!

Re: The W-Train must be kept in the side!
simple equation for me.
wilkes or kosi?
cant play both (with roo and stanley in).
i regard kosi and wilkes about the same.
so dunno. maybe they should job share and play 10 games each?

Re: The W-Train must be kept in the side!
Cant we fit both - move Blake out for Wilkes - the question is can Wilkes do Blakes job AND still allow us the flexibility to say, sub Kosi off IF he goes missing after qtr time (and he has often - we cant carry players for 3 qtrs) to then bring on a runner and move Wilkes fwd?
Can Wilkes hold down Blakes role is the key - THEN we have flexibility if so.
Id sub Ledger or even Sippos...

Agreed, Wilkes stays in.
Is there room for he and kozi both?

Wow I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought of the similarities with Gehrig. All he needs is a mullet and he'll have full cult status.
Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"

Been saying it for weeks-
Riewoldt back!
Riewoldt and Goddard to live up to their reputations ,Clarke and Ray to defy theirs in 2012!

Re: The W-Train must be kept in the side!
Port played four talls, plus their ruck, against us R1 and it worked pretty well. You could have Kosi and Roo push up the ground at various points. I don't think it's going to happen, but it would be interesting. Have a smaller sub in case ground level becomes an issue.
Yeah nah pleasing positive
Re: The W-Train must be kept in the side!
Kosi - in form and takes good pack marks, can ruck, moves up the ground to take possessions/marks on the wing, excellent kick for goal
Wilkes - better on the lead, protects space well to allow roo in, excellent kick for goal, good grab
I think Kosi at this point is a better allround player but Wilkes seems more damaging/dangerous in the goal area
Your pick scotty

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Re: The W-Train must be kept in the side!
Kosi = Forward/Ruck
Wilkes = Forward/Back
Atm imo Kosi is a better forward than Wilkes.
So for Wilkes to come in, he comes in as a defender.
While the Dees are pretty crap, it's adds weigh to the 3 man tall forward line.
Scotty did come from the side that won a flag with Cloke Dawes and Brown.
Before this week Kosi was equal top goal scorer for us, and in both our losses was the most effective forward.
Kosi comes straight back in for me.

Support height wise for backlinw'sainterinsydney wrote:Riewoldt in the backline would be interesting.
Opportunity for Stanley&co to grow away from Riewoldt's shadow.
What do we have to lose?
Riewoldt and Goddard to live up to their reputations ,Clarke and Ray to defy theirs in 2012!
Re: The W-Train must be kept in the side!
Drop Blake and play Gilbert in his role (he's been used as a winger). Stanley and Roo to play high, Wilkes and Kosi outa the goal square.

Re: The W-Train must be kept in the side!
i dont believe so (although the eagles have used a 4 tall fwd line with some success so its not out of the question.hungry for a premiership wrote:Agreed, Wilkes stays in.

wilkes cant play blakes role(but gwilt can play blakes role).
so its EITHER wilkes or kosi
OR
we play a 4 tall fwd line and try to break the press with long kicks.....
interesting.
Re: The W-Train must be kept in the side!
Nice Problem to have! Hope we have more of these types of selection problems!
Some time soon.
Re: The W-Train must be kept in the side!
Definitely cant play both. Kosi still has credits if only a little. gets in next week and Wilkes goes unfortunately. Kosi is probably lucky Wilkes was subbed.

He'll monster all our current defenders.

I have no idea but Wilkes was poor down back in the practice games. He may get a shot because he deserves game however they may just go with Fisher or Gilbert. Roughead is also a huge problem. Surely he is to big for Simpkin and Blake struggled last week but may have to get him.
