Very moving experience.
Though seeing some people in Collingwood gear annoyed me for the reasons above.
Now enjoy the rest of the day with the radio and TV off.
See that's just f***ed...But no matter who played on the day, there'd be cockheads doing the same thing.
The day is not about frigging football.
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'
Collingwood president Eddie McGuire says he hasn't spoken to Malthouse about his remarks but, having given the coach some time off over Easter, "will have a chat with him". Describing Malthouse as "a very disciplined person generally", McGuire classed his words to the media on Wednesday as the "musings of an elder statesman".
McGuire said the coach has long held the "completely opposite" view to that being ascribed to his media conference. As for Collingwood and Essendon maintaining their hold on Anzac Day at the MCG, the Magpies' president said: "I can never understand people who want to change things that are fantastic."

"This afternoon's bugler may as well be a busker."
Ouch.
Smith 1 AFL/ESS/Coll 0.
AFL/Coll/Ess response: "Of course everyone's entitled to their opinion. We understand it's an emotive topic. We believe we're doing the right thing and honouring the occasion respectfully."
Meanwhile - Ka-ching Jackpot Lotto windfall.
Pfft...

The AFL plus two powerful clubs have appropriated a horrible myth to sell tickets. What's worse is we've bought in. If ALL the money went to the RSL - and I mean every last cent - then that would go SOME way to redressing the kitsch awfulness of the concept, but even still the concept would stand alone as a terribly out of place theft of a survivalist spirit a game of footy couldn't even go close to a single step towards representing.
The bogan hordes, however, couldn't care less. And therein lies the true source of power in this country.
And truly spoken by one of the most ignorant posters to ever lurk this site.

I thought you'd given up on the Saints for Sunsville.
Ignorant, huh. How so?
Examples please. Disagreeing with you, obviously, doesn't count as ignorance by the way. By definition it can't.

Too busy. But why don't you go back through some of your posts and see if you can find any examples of ignorance.
I don't respect most, if any, your opinions. I care not if you don't respect mine.
And at the end of all that if ignorance of you is my alleged crime a guilty plea sits pretty comfortably.

*Cringe*
Please tell me he didn't actually say that!! Oh dear.
The only Anzac Day game I care about is the Dragons v the Roosters, and even then I could do without it being an 'event' game. They give out a Spirit of the Anzacs Medal FFS.
I gather Collingwood won today? I didn't watch or listen to any of it. Not interested in the slightest.

Ouch....
Where did that come from??
I thought it was the cleanest / most perfect Last Post I'd heard in a very long time.
I was listening to her to see how she'd fare with a possibly female-skeptic anzac day audience.
Awesome job!
Hate the pie bomber monopoly
Another variation on the 2 top previous season Vic teams is to let the winner continue the next Anzac day to defend the cup verses the best/next best team from previous year
Just can't stand it as is!!

That's a real shame. I was hoping we could become friends.
Creepy.

Maybe well deserved but still a bit disappointing for Schneider, Ray, Monty and Fisher who must have fancied themselves as a chance?
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!
We are all another year older.
But nothing else has changed.
The rorted biaised incompetent AFL is still rorted, biaised and incompetent.

Saints43 wrote:Why do Collingwood play on Anzac day when they are one of four teams who did not disband during the whole of the Great War where the Anzac legend was born?
In 1916 Collingwood were in the competition while six other teams did not field teams while their young were men in the trenches.
