Two outta' two, and though early days, three outta' three not looking too shabby... and I reckon all three were surprise choices to many people.
I believe... and not just based on the signature calls. Read her other posts...
Don't get too excited yet. He coughed it up under pressure twice in round one. Cost 2 goals. Yes he was good on the weekend, but so was everyone. Why? Most likely the lack of pressure from GC.
Let's see him under pressure again against quality opposition. Not saying he won't make it but he's not there yet. His kicking must improve. Hope it does.

The negativity and favouratism for taggers from Lyon means that guys who attack the footy and can set up play and lead and run into space can finally come into their own. Geary's game on the week-end should be a turning point in his career and even though it was against GC Suns, I reckon he should gain a lot of confidence from his performance and his efforts. Geary has the capacity and potential to improve to be a quality mid with another 20 or 30 games experience.
Gee, I enjoyed watching Saints footy on the week-end...sure it was against last years wooden spooners, but we showed signs of taking the game on against Port also. That's when we actually attacked the goals and didn't kick sideways or backwards and go into a defensive mindset which is really pointless when the game is close or when you are 3 goals behind on the scoreboard and there's 20 minutes to go in the final quarter. We lacked the hardness to win contested ball against Port and we waited for our usual stars to win it for us, instead of playing as a team and utilising every player out there on the field. The finals are an eternity away, so the likes of Polo and others will no doubt play a role at some stage...Geary has earnt his spot and I'd rather see J Geary out there than Farren Ray or Peaky or Polo for now...It's going to be these new blokes in the team that will improve the team.

I think he's better and getting more confident with his kicking. Simpkin was a little scarier tonight. Blake and Dempster both brain fade when hemmed in also. I takes a strong mental state to hold up under pressure. After watching last weeks game live you realise how much work he does off the ball. Luke Ball did it to, contested well with out the ball. The stats don't show how well he played but the coach will be letting him know how well he's going. He's taken over Gram raph and Gwilts roles solo as a running rebounder and held up really well.

found it a bit but his disposal especially by foot is poor and a concern....................holds him back a bit.
That is expected and you'll even see Nicky Dal and BJ make errors - so what. As long as he contributes when the game is hot and he wins his fair share of contested footy and he gut runs to provide an option, then he deserves his spot. Give him another 20-30 games and he'll be matching it with most oppositions.

2 of the Dogs first 4 goals was due to poor Geary kicks to a a Saint out in space, but instead advantaging his opponent leading to bal coming back quickly when it should not have..
He will probably play 200 games....but it will be more in the steady Blake vein, than as a matchwinner.
He has many good qualities, and attracts the ball. this plus his workrate will keep him in Bakers departure has opened a slot for him.
However I see little difference this year to past years. He is almost 24 with 55 games...so his time needs to be now.

Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....
Sainter K, in view of your previous achievements with your Signature could you change to:Roo is a dead eye dick shot for goal and Gram has a bigger heart than Lenny?
Riewoldt and Goddard to live up to their reputations ,Clarke and Ray to defy theirs in 2012!

Thought of asking the very same thing - but not even Saint Mary could work those miracles.
"The starting point of all achievement is desire. "
Another solid effort. Kicking still scary. If only he could kick. His attack is first class.

There is a difference...some of the guys in the seniors list needed a reason to be enthusiastic...New Coach means opportunities for them...Gaery might get a chance to play in September

Geary came back into the team in Round 18, 2011 and has played every game since, including the final.

He reminds me of Kelly from the Swans in the old days. He just attacks the footy with gusto. He set up more goals in that game last week than he was credited with. The kicker from the backline is at the mercy of the spread team mates provide and that for me is the area Montagna has dropped off this year. he was the guy who spread and carried the ball and could always find space, not sure why but he' s just slightly off this year.
He can shank but so can all of Dempster, Blake and Simkin based on last night -is there a pattern emerging? When you bring the ball out you need team mates to give you a target, add to that the boundary hugging mantra and you have a bigger margin for error than previous years. gears for me has been more impressive than anyone in how he's come out playing.
You don't need 22 magnificent kicks who don't win their own ball, melbourne has been lacking a few Gearys. Hawks play better when Jordan lewis and Hodge are in the team because they attack the ball harder and make contests.
I reckon that Gear's performances in 2012 on the field, in the SS award, and in the StK FC B&F clearly state...
3 out of 3 correct!
Well done (yet again) K!
Three-peat!
We await your next annointing... as should the players.
