3 confidents. I'm starting to feel confident now. I'm better than 50%. I think our tall forwards will trouble the Dogs. Maybe the Power Tool might have a break-out game.

Re: Are we confident?
20-30 point win in my humble opinion. Normally nervous, but not this weekend. Probably means we will lose.

No
Dogs really need this... Pressure on them IMO and the "saints have wood on you" hype will see them desperate. Will depend how we can back up

Re: Are we confident?
I guess this game has that "saints expected to win" about it that makes nervous

I'm confident with the team we have on paper. If we bring the intensity, we should prevail.

On SEN this morning Patrick or Greg Denham said we couldn't make the 8 this year but there is a belief they will be a possible contender. I hope that kind of crap inspires our guys to smash the bitches out of their kennel.

Re: Are we confident?
I'm not confident at all. Nervous in fact. Well not that nervous because I find myself not really caring that much either way. It's just a game - oh have a listen to me. "It's just a game" - I sound like a fairweather supporter. I think I'm only nonplussed about it because the game isn't on at the moment - it'll eb a different story tomorrow. For some reason, what I've seen so far this year doesn't give me much confidence for the season ahead.
Although 13 goals in the second half last week did give me something to cling my hat to, even if it was only Gold Coast.

That's because of the 'we haven't lost to Carlton since the pura milk jumpers' vibe on here in 2010Teflon wrote:I guess this game has that "saints expected to win" about it that makes nervous

Re: Are we confident?
On Big Footy some who follow the Bulldogs are still whining about that Prelim loss and Roo getting a free kick or two late in that game and some are also making jokes about Kosi and Gia, after Gia bumped Kosi back in 2006, causing him to miss almost a full season with a fractured skull, plus whatever physical effects it's had on him as well.
Losing to them is not an option this week, folks, for many reasons, including those ones.
If we bring the intensity to the table that we had for much of last week (and which was sadly lacking at the start of the Port match, the week before) and play anywhere near our best, then I fully expect we'll win, as we are probably stronger in all 3 areas of the ground, have more to play for (as they admit to being in "rebuild mode", while we're clearly still going for it), plus we have the wood on them.
If we match or trump their intensity early on, especially, then I won't be surprised if we go away with it and win comfortably. I reckon once this group realise they've been "let off the leash" by Watters and co. they'll want to make up for lost time and have some big, enjoyable wins. The core of our side that played in 3 grand finals in 12 months (up until just a little over a season ago) is still there and are plenty capable of it, if they bring that intensity to the table, which I hope they do.

Re: Are we confident?
It seems a lot agree that intensity is the key ingredient and you know what, I think I do also. That has been the most frustrating thing about the team since the GF2 crisis. For what ever reason, and there have been plenty put forward, the team just lacked intensity throughout big parts of last year and you just kept asking yourself, how does that happen. As has been rightfully pointed out in this thread, the core group of players that were in that team for GF2 are still going around so there should be no physical reason why it can't be there this season. That's all I wan't to see. It was there against a bunch of kids for a couple of quarters last week so no reason it can't be there this week.
BTW I love asking our supporters how confident they are. It is a really open ended question and draws some interesting insights into where the club is at.
RIP IT UP EM SAINTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Are we confident?
The Age has a knife twisting piece about the 2 teams just missing out this morning. After watching the Pies last night I can see the Saints of 2011, second to every contest, flat footed non committed.
If we can get the enthusiasm back I still believe we have enough to challenge anyone. You realise how switched on you need to be to get up the top. I hope we can rediscover that enthusiasm Carlton had last night. Everything goes right when your on.

I'm not confident but i am very hopeful...
They have a very ordinary forward line which raises my hopes....

We've got an ordinary backline so that probably evens things out.bobmurray wrote:I'm not confident but i am very hopeful...
