fair enough, though i thought he might be worth a thirds game this week then.stkildathunda wrote:Wasnt injured at all, was rested. Why would he need a 2 game rest this early in the season? Sorry doesn't make sense. It's only round 3 now and he will have missed the last 2 weeks. Someone please explain how this is helping his development if true. Would make sense if he was injured. I don't believe everything I read.stkildathunda wrote:Wasnt injured at all, was rested. The seniors have a bye this week so none them are playing. The 3 Saints that are playing all needed permission to play in developement squad.8856brother wrote:Why would he need a 2 game rest this early in the season? Sorry doesn't make sense. It makes perfect sense, these boys are still that. Most of them have just come straight out of school and don't haev the bodies to cope with the work load yet.
I thought we all agreed that we wouldn't destroy players early in their careers ala Luke Ball
Lets be patient

Re: Rd 4- Sandy Dev'l't squad vs Werribee ( Snrs- Bye)
Jason Gram's early start on the road back
ST KILDA backman Jason Gram won't mind the early start at Avalon Airport Oval tomorrow morning.
He's just happy to be playing again, starting with a comeback call-up for Sandringham reserves.
And Gram can expect plenty of game time as the Saints step up his match conditioning with their VFL affiliate following a torn hamstring in a pre-season practice match.
The rebounding defender, who averaged more than 21 disposals and was among the Saints' top five ball-getters last season, was granted permission to play in the seconds as Sandringham's senior team has the bye this round.
Rookie ruckman Daniel Archer, who broke his jaw pre-season, also will play.
"Adam Schneider (hamstring) is a couple of weeks away and James Gwilt (knee) has been in full training for almost a month, so he's getting closer," St Kilda coach Scott Watters said.
Only Raph Clarke (hamstring) remains a problem.

Re: Rd 4- Sandy Dev'l't squad vs Werribee ( Snrs- Bye)
He's very light. Maybe they deciced they wanted to get a couple of weeks of solid weights training into him, to give him a better chance of doing well this year and thought that he would be better off if he didn't play during that time?8856brother wrote:Why would he need a 2 game rest this early in the season? Re: Rd 4- Sandy Dev'l't squad vs Werribee ( Snrs- Bye)
Sorry. Can't cop any of that. Why rest him last week after only ONE game when they knew this week was a bye. He's a footballer for gods sake. If he's not injured let him play. I'll say it again. Playing 1 out of 3 weeks, if he's not injured, is not helping him. Playing football every now and then will. Can't believe no one else thinks this is strange.

In hindsight the team balance was pretty good. They must really rate Newnes to give him that clean skilled outside defensive player role. Maybe the Dogs bigger bodied mids meant they played a more solid midfield so Ledger was left out. He will play plenty of footy though.

What you expect me to go back and read all that crap -can't you at least tell me who they are talking about so I don't have to uncover evidence of my own ignorance?

Re: Rd 4- Sandy Dev'l't squad vs Werribee ( Snrs- Bye)
Markworth has good footy smarts, skills & pace, what he doesn't have is strength and conditioning, especially coming from only a few years of footy.8856brother wrote:Sorry. Can't cop any of that. So instead of having him slug it out and risk injuries, they have him at the gym instead. There is absolutely no need for him to play every week. They are not expecting him to play AFL this year.
We've just set-up the academy to manage blokes like this properly, they are putting a lot of time and thought into it, I suppose only time will tell if they are on the right track.

OMG we will lose him Tommy Walsh style and he will go off to Sydney if he doesn't get games into him. They should make him senior captain now.
