So what are all doing on here then? :P

AFL GF------non AFL people turn up to celebrate
Easter/Christmas------why can-t we let believers have their day in the sun free from shopping, sport, gambling and other everyday distractions?

Seriously people.
yes fingers, I used to do that, but not any more.

I dont believe in any manmade doctrineaire religion, with scornful, vengeful, jealous vindictive god.

It is just so the power of the church (whichever it is) can control the masses with fear and anxiety.

But as Stephen Hawkin once pondered " The Universe is so vast and complex, why go to all the bother of existing at all"

Well without getting to hippie, we are all part of the universe, every atom in us began in a star. the gold wedding ring on my finger was once part of a stars supernova (the only place the chemical reactions occur for gold to be created) and consciousness and intelligence is part of that universe.

So maybe WE are the reason the universe bothers to exist. We are part of the universe physically and consciously.

Oh and as i said, I am not a christian or believe in a doctrined god, but if you become aware and awake and understand the meaning of many of the quotes uttered by Jesus, it all has to do with lifeforce, and consciousness, and what we are. Likewise the Buddha. It is about awakening and lifeforce.

So in essence one day without footy is a good thing. It evokes discussion, it raises questions, and it may actually begin some on the path to reconciliation, and awareness and less of an egoic existence.

peace.
That's all well and good - and I wouldn't expect anything less from a heathen like you ;)

My point is make your point with some respect. Otherwise we are no better than collingwood supporters.

I don't just want to see footy on Good Friday I want to see the SAINTS playing on Good Friday. Good Friday will hapen sooner or later and it will turn into a "cash cow" for the participants. Collingwood, Carlton & Essendon get more than a good run with "Blockbuster" games already and I suspect they are already lobbying the AFL on the quiet to get their grubby little fingers on this one. By all means give the gate receipts to the RCH. The BIG money comes from the "exclusive" exposure and all the corporate hospitality !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Actually enjoyed watching opening day for MLB this morning, but, it was still Thursday in the States, though games are scheduled today.

You can add to the list
- International surfing contest at Bells beach
- Davis cup international tennis
- pretty sure the Stawell gift footrace began
- International cycling velodrome competition in Melbourne

It's perfectly OK for those and heaps of other sports to take place today.
But apparently God is not happy for AFL to be played.

Go figure that out

Melbourne Cup - true but don't forget that if there was no betting involved, horse racing wouldn't even exist.

GF - the ones that can get tickets. Most of the true fans never get to see it.

It could be as simple as Demetriou likes going to church on Boring Friday and hence we have no footy

Those of us who have spent some time pondering the possible existence of a Creator, may also have spent some time pondering life in the Collingwood Jeersquad...

  • The following is purportedly an actual question given on a University of Washington engineering mid term exam.

Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or Endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law, (gas cools off when it expands and heats up when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:
"First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate that souls are moving into Hell and the rate they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.
Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand as souls are added. This gives two possibilities:
    1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.
    2. Of course, if Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.
So which is it? If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa Banyan during my Freshman year, "...that it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you." and take into account the fact that I still have not succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then, #2 cannot be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and will not freeze."
(According to legend) this student received the only 'A'.
