Wasn't it a good thing RL worked his assisstants into the ground... And worked his players.
Might be the reason we made consecutive GFs.

So does 17 other coaches a year and apart from one year every coach at the Saints failed. Even Kevin Sheedy or MM failed about 25 times. For our history he was as close as a winner that we have ever had bar one and he won that with a wobbly punt that could have gone anywhere just as Lenny's kick could of. yes i know would of could of.

But having failed I'm not sure how long that intensity can be maintained without everyone burning out.
He gave it. and us, his best shot but ultimately we came up short.
I think everyone at Seaford needed a fresh approach after the last few years. Whether that will lead to success only time will tell.

No. The club has failed in general over the past 120 odd years. Ross did nothing but give.saintspremiers wrote:We didn't win them. Ultimately he failed.Spinner wrote:Teflon wrote:thats interesting...."lifestyle" smacks of "Ross now owns my lifestyle"

Lance or James??

Re: Freo Assistant Coach quits
Have it pretty good authority that Ross was a control freak and did not empower or even trust assistants to do their job, but was quick to point the finger of blame...... which is why there was a mass exodus in 2010. The guy could seriously coach....management and interpersonal skills left a lot to be desired.....an arrogant, smart arse c*** was one description I heard.
But who could deny he knew his s***

Ross is unapologetically a bit of a hard task master prick. He'll lose a few on the journey.
Hardly surprising news.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Freo only need to keep players on the park to improve this season. The jungle drums will start beating if he doesn't achieve this year, it's gonna be a pressure cooker in the 2 horse town. Our boys will have been shown the standard but need to put the effort in minus the intense scrutiny that Ross put them under.

Lyon might be a master prick but also has a master plan and is undoubtedly smarter than the average bear. Getting difficult things done always means that a few people have to go home in tears. There'll be some argy bargy, but I reckon he will be fabulous for the Dockers and will lift them up by their bootstraps and take them at least to a GF by 2015.Thinline wrote:Ross is unapologetically a bit of a hard task master prick. Never liked him and thought it best that he left. But only have respect for his work ethic. Not for everyone and most would burn out (which I think explains 2011), but he got 100% out of most of the team until last year. Pity more of that hard work wasn't put into creating a more efficient attacking game plan. He had five years to address it but it was his and our Achilles heel.

Or developing the kids. Or telling Netters to not bother calling a press conference. Small memories.desertsaint wrote:Never liked him and thought it best that he left. No. Long memories. Many of us remember how well the team did in the past few years, and aren't going to gripe over a couple of moving on pains that could have been done better by both parties.
Can't believe that ppl are still bitter about the way he left us. Most agree, that regardless of the messy way it was handled by both parties, that the team was due for a change, and that Watters appears to the right coach for the now.

+1
Was time for a change for both lyon and the Saints.
No party pure in the leaving.
All in the past - move on.
