Definitely no hate here. Have no doubt that you can live up to that guarantee. But I remain intrigued...

After all the pages debating Walsh only one Question remains:
How will we cope when somebody who has played 100 plus games for us decides to go elsewhere.
Thank God there was no Saintsational when big Tony left!
Riewoldt and Goddard to live up to their reputations ,Clarke and Ray to defy theirs in 2012!

zac played 77 - and we aint heard the end of that yet.
walsh is 195 cm 100kg. blonde. can play fwd and back (supposedly). 25y.o. good at vfl level but no good at afl level.
wilkes = as above.
I've not read one forumite suggest that TW was going to be a game breaker or a super player for us or the Swans or even for that matter a huge loss.
It's fair to say that we got a pretty decent trade for the big fella and at least with the info available at the time, I think we've come out on top.
IMO the scenario was disappointing for a number of reasons:
- he was well liked by the club and fans and walked out on us... makes you feel a bit like there's a reason ppl don't want to stay at our club
- we were developing him and didn't really get any payback for the work we put into him... 2 draft picks = start over
- the majority of those that watched Sandy and the match reports floated on here at least suggested that at times his form warranted a game or 2 in a team that was desperate for key forwards
- Riewoldt was smashed pillar to post last season and is still ginger pre-rd1... don't like that we didn't take better care of him whilst having a closer look at the talent pool
People can twist the issues all they want... it still feels like we didn't manage this scenario as well as we could have and that's what's disappointing
im not making a fuss over walsh leaving - but i guess rl knew he was leaving at the end of the year so wasnt worried about 2012. But if i was coach and knew i was staying i would have put the cue in the rack and sent rooey off for early surgery in august and let him have 6 months r and r. walsh is average but couldnt have been worse than a hobbling roo (remember when roo got carved up by lachie henderson). only the absolute one eyed of one eyed sie hards thought we were any chance last year.

Roo did play some decent football in some games which helped us get to the finals the first place. It was a great effort to make the top 8 in the end given the first half of the year. It wasn't a great year, but I wouldn't completley dismiss last year's effort either.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.
speaking of guns potential or otherwise, this thread got me thinking
I have seen the saints lose a few players over the journey
but I was hard pressed trying to remember the last time the Saints gained a gun from another club.
and Im discounting players like Ray (unloved/discarded)
i think walsh has made the wrong move. moved to sydney to get more $$ and more senior football, but ended up at a side with a host of tall options. he's now right back to where he was at the saints only with more $$$
then you look at us, we short on talls. i reckon if he stayed he'd have found it easier to break into the seniors compared too sydney.
