Agree with last lina Crippa BUT
wavering fans are probably afraid of the bitter harvest coming due to your idols list management/development over recent years!

Nah can't be that Whiskers. That "bitter harvest" was there last year.
Not only that, but with Kim Duthie and the press crucifying us daily, we were STILL way ahead in memberships compared to where we are now.
Seems stupid, I know.
But there are thousands of Saints fans out there demonstrating that they refuse to "draw a line in the sand" and be part of a future free of Ross Lyon.

Seriously, do you know how much (financial) misery is out there?
I work in retail and know of decently run businesses down 20-25% on the same period last year.
Our political masters tell us the economy is in great shape but feeling on the ground totally different.

Good point, whiskas. So how come everyone is flocking to buy memberships at Richmond, Essendon, and Melbourne?

Paying for memberships out of money saved by not having to buy finals tickets?
Sense of optimism re their lists?

Yep. If all goes to plan we won't have to waste money on finals tickets this year, though. Here's hoping, because falling membership is a real problem.
Still don't buy it though, whiskas....
If tens of thousands of Filth supporters can buy memberships just living on a Centrelink cheque, any Saint fan wanting to "draw a line in the sand" and be part of a future without Ross Lyon would have renewed his membership by now.
As for "optimism re lists", plenty of Saints fans feel more optimistic about 2012 than they did about 2011. Certainly the newspapers are talking us up. So why are the memberships down?
Seems to me there are thousands of Saints fans not wanting to "be the future" without Lyon.

There's always Freo for them if life without Lyon is so difficult.

No doubt St Kilda's Board and CEO are muttering those very words to themselves as we speak.

The club is selling it's soul!

A relocation back to St kilda was the real vision to turn the club into a super power but that was thwarted when the current buch of idiots were elected!

After a 1.5 million dollar loss on the back of back to back Grand Finals and a drop off in membership clown Westaway is now asking members at an AGM if anyone has any bright ideas!

FAIR DINKUM

What a joke!

I have up dated my signature to new forum link to 2011 tally
still around 6,000 down

My question is what are you ( collective) as members doing to assist to promote the club and being a member-

I wont ask becasue I know the answer to- are you a member, and what % of SS posters are?
what would make you become a member,I do realise that Not everyone can afford. But everyone can promote.

if member get member was official why can't it be unofficial- \
there are some odd reasons why people don't join... and it;'s NOT the distance to seaford- they don't play games at Seaford they play them in the CITY..
NOT all players were involved in ' the issues' but some members branded the whole team with the same brush...

Didn't stop 6000 members who haven't renewed this year from joining last year.

Kim Duthie prevented us from reaching 45,000 last year (though maintaining 40,000 in 2011 - despite Duthie, the move to Seaford (if that is a factor), and our winning only win 1 game in 8 rounds - was remarkable).

The massive fall in membership this year has nothing to do with KIm Duthie.

Considering all the positive press we've enjoyed and the marketing dollars spent on the slogan "Draw a line the sand. Be the future" (which has misfired, big time, IMO), the drop in membership is very telling indeed.

I did a poll on here a few months ago, when Lyon was still at the helm regarding the style of play and if that impacted the purchase of a membership.

Was surprised to see how many were put off by 'saints footy'

I am not going to kick them, it's their money, but I think a few tweaks in the game plan and some excitement about the place will get more of the unrenewed members from seasons previous to last?

Wasn't there quite a significant drop off after the 2010 campaign?

How many of the unrenewed members fall under the cheersquad?

How many are due to problems with reserved seating or the like?

The results of a poll of Saintsationalists is hardly a reliable indicator of the views of the common or garden Saints supporter!

So far as the loving or hating of Saints Footy is concerned, the membership tally is, I'm afraid, the only poll that counts.

You honestly believe we are down because Ross is gone?

I just can't see it, but who am I to judge, perhaps it does weigh on people.

so how do you explain the 7,000 who did not join last year?

Maybe they do.
