Only 18,880 crowd
Let's hope the heat the a big factor in a sub 25K crowd, which is what the threesome last night should've drawn IMO.

If the gate doesn't go to us, or a portion, who cares.

Nab cup is actually expensive for what it is, a practice game, you are never sure how serious your team will take it either.saintspremiers wrote:Let's hope the heat the a big factor in a sub 25K crowd, which is what the threesome last night should've drawn IMO.

Agreed. It's a glorified practice game, with silly rules.Superstar wrote:Nab cup is actually expensive for what it is, a practice game, you are never sure how serious your team will take it either.saintspremiers wrote:Let's hope the heat the a big factor in a sub 25K crowd, which is what the threesome last night should've drawn IMO.
It was a hot night last night - plenty of other things for people to do. Not to mention, a lot of people opted enjoy the game in front of the TV in air-conditioned comfort.

Re: Only 18,880 crowd
I imagine the the Gate IS NOT going to clubs- but just my thoughts without checking
as much as anything due to the fact the Club did not have Merchandise Inside the ground.
joint /AFL merchandise stands- apaprt from Essendons Beyond SPort.
saw Saints locker still trading after the game- did the other clubs have outlets?

I was at work until 7pm, so could've caught just the Cats match. $20 for a 40 minute praccy match is a rip off espec when you have hi def foxtel!QuestionOfAccuracy wrote:Agreed. Anyway, I'm hoping we don't make the "Grand Final" and our game in 3 weeks time is at Visi
Park on a Saturday arvo. Suburban grounds are the go for praccy matches. Shame Moorabbin isn't an option.

Re: Only 18,880 crowd
Why are people carrying on about crap. Honeslty, it is NAB Cup. Who cares who goes. If we are getting 18,000 during the season, ill be worried but not surprised because we are a pretty small club.

I was more fun when you got free ticks with your membership. $20 each and the kids , trains going only to flinders then change, the game that came last meant staying out until 11 with primary school kids break between games, I'm surprised anyone else went.

I'm waiting for the "real footy" to start. Better things to do at the moment.
Gringo's suggestion of a few free tickets with your membership, would be appreciated by lots of people.

Re: Only 18,880 crowd
Getting to a practice game by 6:40 is hard, especially if you come from half an hour or so outside of the CBD. I missed the entire first half of the Swans match because of the early start. Mind you I am glad I did - but I am very happy to say that I saw the entire Geelong match! How good is Ledger going to be!

Re: Only 18,880 crowd
There weren't many Cats supporters there. It was mainly Swans and us. sadly it did seem that there were more Swans than Saints colours. Their 'end' of the ground was certainly fuller.

Yes let's not read too much into Feb footy, but our lousy current membership plus fox footy live in HD every
Regular season game may really hurt us crowd wise, perhaps more so than the big Melbourne clubs. Welcome to the big unknown.....

Re: Only 18,880 crowd
No official Saints merchandise inside the ground, but they did have stalls with every club playing in all the entrances on level one. Also a new "Snag" food shop. Different sausages in a roll on level 1.

Re: Only 18,880 crowd
Disagree..the Swans fans all sat in one spot behind those goals so it looked like there were loads of em. I was on the cityside wing and there were loads of Saints and Cats fans there..far more than Swans. But remember too. Swans fans dont see their team in Melb that often so they are more likely to make the effort to go.samuraisaint wrote:There weren't many Cats supporters there. Lots of Cats fans didnt arrive until late as they didnt play in the first game
Also..the cityside wing filled rapidly as soon as the sun went down behind the roof..about 5 mins after Game 1 started
THE BUBBLE HAS BURST

Re: Only 18,880 crowd
We would have sat on that wing too, but it would have been way too hot there, at least for the start of the match and just before it. We found a spot in the pocket, just around from there, that had obviously just become shady and it was incredible just how hot the actual seat was. It was ass-burning stuff!
By the time that first half of the first game had ended, the wing looked like it had pretty much filled up.

We sat at the swans end at the start as we got there late. Moved to the Saints CS end in the second game, who is the guy who looks like Beetlejuice bred with Heath Ledger in the dark Knight? There were few saints but very mental ones.

Had they been a little clever, the roof would've been half shut to keep out the sun but allow heat to Espace.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:We would have sat on that wing too, but it would have been way too hot there, at least for the start of the match and just before it.
