Albury Wodonga Saints - AGM Monday 20 Feb

Post: # 1192048Post hellorocky »

For those that don't already know (some people have changed email addresses since last season)- if you want to be kept up to date on local St Kilda information, come to the meeting and/or send me your email address.

AGM for the Albury-Wodonga Saints will be held on Monday 20th February 2012, 7.00pm at the Stump Hotel Wodonga in the function room behind the dining room bar.

Michael Nettlefold - St Kilda CEO - has confirmed his attendance at our AGM in Wodonga.

Please make an effort to attend so we can show him how passionate fans are in North East Victoria and southern NSW.

All fans will be welcome, please pass the info to other St Kilda fans that you might know.

for our 1st AGM back in 1996, we had ????? Elliott attend from the club ( it was Jamie or Glenn, from memory )

we nearly folded late in 2003 and whinged to the club for some support so David Friend and Ben Hall attended our AGM in 2004.

That got our group back on track, we won the Wizard cup and the next 10 h & A games.

We had another whinge late last year and Michael promised to come up, which he is, tomorrow. Hopefully some of the hundreds of local members and ex-members will turn up.

Like our friends from Lakes Entrance , Bendigo and Ballarat, the lack of bus parking really hit us hard last year, we are needing a shot of enthusiasm this year

Good luck guys !! I'm glad the club are helping by sending Michael to your AGM ... Maybe one day he will accept our offer from the Western Saints to attend our AGM

Years ago Andrew Plympton was good to the Western Saints when he was Saints president. Think he came over for at least 2 AGM's maybe more.

Then in GT & RB's early era they were in phone contact to us during the AGM so members could ask questions & get answers, which was very good of them.......................... teleconferencing wasn't the in thing then, mores a pity  Also that was before GT & RB had their bust up. :(

Hey maybe that could be the way to go for some country or interstate supporters groups? Teleconference your AGM with a club official, ofcourse if the cost wasn't prohibitive. Just a thought.

PS How are your feline's purring hellorocky? I tried to introduce a new kitten to my furry friends......................... what a disaster, neither the hound not the cats welcomed it at all..................... animals can't cope with change......... so new little russian had to go to a friend

Good turn out for the AGM. I had to leave during questions, but was able to listen to Nettlefold talk about the club and what has been and what is to be for the future.

Short sponsor found $750 000 3 year deal although didn't say who

Spoke about initiatives that were forthcoming but was unable to give specifics just yet but said that it would put the club right up there.

Believed that BJ would stay. Spoke to his management before Xmas and that they will speak in the coming months also noted that it was going to be a tough year in terms of contracts few of the bigger names out of contract at the end of the season.

Interesting to note that he believed that Lyon may walk earlier in the year and had told Pelchin who told him he was dreaming.

Spoke of the process of getting Watters to the club, from what it sounded like Watters got the gig over Hinkley who was a close 2nd.

Spoke of recruiting and the fact that in previous years they had been unable to interview a heap of prospectives eg 8 in 2010 to 80 in 2011.

Said that he had on the AFL fixture wish list put down us to have all home games at the MCG.

Said that the processes in place now it would be difficult for a Ball OUT Lovett IN scenario.

Talked about Roo and how he was in a better place mentally this preseason compared to all of last year where he looked as if the whole world had been on his shoulders.

Gram has become a project of sorts for Watters, mentioned that he had been on the outer when the new coach had come in but is now realizing that he can't live off that game in 2009.

Spoke highly of how Gilbo was mentally fresh and in a better place now.

Was rating highly the guys we recruited this year and the likes of Cripps Ledger Armo Stanley and Steven. Excited about Saad and Millera. Saad quickest at the club.

Club was aware that the ruck would be an issue with Ben being the only full time ruck we have. And that we might be thin down back until Gwilty returns around Rd 7.

Passionate about the club and wanted to see them doing well both on and off the field.

I'll add more if I remember anything I missed.

Well done to the Albury Wodonga Saints. I wonder who won the raffle tho :)

Thanks Buckets, great summary, maybe you should have taken the minutes 8-) and no you didn't win the raffle.

It was a great turnout from local members , lots of things were covered tonight both locally and from the club. Hearing Michael speak so positively and enthusiastically was great, better than any daily news interview or snippet on TV. Lots to digest and much to organise in preparation for the NAB cup game next week.

Loris, my dog died in the off season and stray cats moved in to my cat's territory, the princess was very stressed. I adopted an older rescue dog, she and the cat are now great friends, the strays are gone and the princess is no longer stressed

Great that the CEO went out there. Think that is great from the club. Glad to see plenty of supporters got out as well.

numbers were probably double from the previous years, close to 40, usually just under 20. I'm going to change my name to Michael Nettlefold  that seemed to get a few in

Change it to Lenny Hayes and you might get 400 ;)

Thanks Buckets...

They keep mentioning this, so it's obviously not sponsorship given he spoke of that seperately, but some other commercial development.
