"I fit well with the blue-collar workers. There is always that common interest, driving machinery on the farm and then jumping up in the big truck, you feel like a big kid really," he said.
Then with a smile he adds: "I get yelled at training because I am watching the D9s (bulldozers) doing the freeway (next to the club's headquarters in Seaford). I just want to jump in one of them, how cool would that be?" For the time being though, there's hopefully that elusive premiership to chase and share with the likes of great mates Nick Riewoldt, Nick Dal Santo, Joe Montagna, Lenny Hayes and Schneider.
"There is only one reason why I am playing and that is exactly that," he said. "There is one reason you turn up to training. There is one reason you go through the pre-season. All personal goals are just irrelevant now.
"I wish I had that sort of outlook early on in my career but as you get closer, and I suppose you miss out, you get that appreciation for how hard it is to do and all personal stuff is put aside.
