Is that Chris Stone or Sidey? Didn't Chris Stone wear those funny glasses?

Didn't know Bryan Adams could play Aussie rules.

Definitely Sidey. Stone was small with dark hair – and of course glasses at some stage.

Re Bryan Adams. He could play a bit however was never good enough to reach VFL level.

Never really got over a serious finger bleeding incident some 11 years before this match :P

Did Sandy play with 16 or 18 on the field? :D

Lance or James??

Definitely not Stone, and sorry Dr S, I don't think it's Sidey either. I'm pretty sure that it is Dean Herbert.

Wow Great Memory

The Saints took on Carlton at Sebastapol on March the 1st 1980 and won by 7 goals 20.11 - 13.10

I'm Trying too put together a list of St Kilda's pre Season practise games.

I have done 1960 - 1980 and 1990 - 2011

Also does anyone remember a game in 1990 played at St Arnaud?? Tony Locket in his Inside football column talks about playing a game there but he doesn't mention a date or who they played

I work with somebody who played a preseason game against Collingwood at Warrnambool in a pre season match in 1983, which we lost by a goal, but Rod Owen at 15 years of age kicked a bag of goals against some very experienced Collingwood names.
Lockett didn't play that day apparently - it would have been his first season I think.
Next time I see him I will ask which players Owen beat. He did tell me who they were and I remember being impressed. I don't think Billy Picken was one of them though.

I went to that game v Sandy and still remember the fearful spray Lindsay Fox gave the team at half time. Echoed wayy beyond the change rooms. Accused the team of lairising against VFA opposition and told em to go out and beat them by 30 goals if they were any good.

We didnt win by 30 goals and perhaps that told a premature story of how our season would fare :?
