HAHA! Some great memories right there - all the Saints fans that night (hardly any of us, really) seemed to be level 2 of the Ponsford, went absolutely beserk when the comeback took hold.
I just remember being four or so goals down at 3qtr time and thinking it wasn't a bad result if we kept it to that margin.
We looked gone for all money before Milney and Hall turned it on. Milne in particular caught fire - his shot to win it from an impossible angle hit the post, and we all thought top-four bound Hawthorn would re-group and win it...
...only for Milne steal Joel Smith's kick-out and poke a pass to Hall, who took it on a lead 35m out.
Only 24 minutes had gone on the clock - the ball HARDLY went out of play in the last term, and we had no idea the siren was about to go.
Hall was walking back when it went, and I remember just looking at family members in a mild shock - that dream of winning a game after the siren was about to hit us right between the eyes.
Hall's kick was a bit of a helicopter but it went through, and we all went nuts.
The team ran from everywhere and swamped Hall and the Hawks were shocked - they ended up pushing Hawthorn within a whisker in the Prelim that year (Croad's torpedo game).
Grant Thomas stood on the sidelines and let the players celebrate without wanting to cramp the moment. Caro later described it as "classy". GT got the full-time job not long after.
A great night. That was Hall's last kick in a St Kilda jumper.
