I remember that interview well and I have never been more disappointed in a Saints president before or since.
He espoused the Gen-Y speak as a major reason that he got rid of GT. I remember thinking to myself that GT has 8 kids. If anyone can speak Gen-Y then it is him.
I tuned into that show looking for a genuine reason as to why they'd sacked a coach with a very good record and relationship with the players. All I got was spin.
exactly and my "y-gen" speak was deliberate
because there was no one that related as well on a personal level as did GT.
The barbecues for players, his dual role as football manager, and his belief that the club doesnt just draft footballers, they mould young men.
(It is also why I believe he wanted to get rid of Milne)
Hearing Butterss give reasons for the sacking & his template for the new coach that night, simply didnt add up, especially with the type of coach that Lyon was.
Let me try again.Obviously I wasn't clear enough and the sarcasm alert re trash wasn't big enough! What I was saying was that since Lyon preferred Lovett/Dawson to Ball/Hudghton at his footy clubs maybe he would also like them as part of his family! :sarcasm:
Riewoldt and Goddard to live up to their reputations ,Clarke and Ray to defy theirs in 2012!
