Winmar, Rhys, Gwilt, Dal, Ben, Simpkin, Dempster and Andreoli (I think) ran laps most of the day.

As mentioned, Ben had ice applied at the end to his lower calf, and was limping. Winmar has lower leg strapping as well.

Not so much Kosi on his last chance, more Kosi looking great given a rare off season without surgery. Agree, running very well.

Aaron seemed at home back in the RW&B

Went for a good 2.5 - 3 hours, boys were more upbeat than I've seem them before. At the end they were called in and formed a circle with arms around each other, not sure what it was about, but they looked really chipper.

All of them came and signed stuff, and were really nice with their time, posing for photos as well when asked. Ben was great, you really get the vibe he has a real mature head on his shoulders. Guys like Kosi, Joey, Lenny and Dal also are really good with the younger fans.

Felt like I watched 'real' training today?

You also get the vibe that everything is fresh and different....

Sounds like a very similar report to previous years. What was different with training today compared to this time last year. Certainly most of the experienced players were upset RL left so I doubt they would be anymore upbeat than any other years.

I do agree though that freshness may help in training early in the year but it wont make any difference by the start of the year. Only a better game plan and better players can help that.

Never been to one that went for so incredibly long, so I thought it may of been more 'real' than others I've watched

(shrugs)

Never said anything about how today will affect the year ahead?

What was different with training today compared to this time last year.

They actually began training at the time it was advertised
They trained in front of the supporters
They had goal kicking practice

Yep I think it is great they are doing more open training sessions. Waste of time most closed sessions. Looks like our new fitness coach is allowing more goalkicking than Misson which is good as well.

thanks K
couple of things noted
The Coffee van :) I wonder if it's the company that had a crash at the front gate ;)

- the watchers are allowed along in front of the building..
- that road work vehicle looks awfully close.

Great pics. Many thanks. Wish my front lawn had turf like that on it.
Is that the operation scar on Gwilt's left knee ?

Yeah you are allowed up along the building, however there still isn't anywhere the kids can watch....you can only have them sit on the bar of the fence for so long.

Coffee van is handy, yet a toilet would be equally as appealing :)

tony74 wrote:Thought Archer looked really fit and was impressed with Kosi in the fast time trials ( up near the lead ) Winmar just did laps ( heavy bandaging around calf ) Dempster, Stanley and Mc.Evoy did laps and the latter looked really fit. Lenny had a hard workout with two trainers involving bumping and ball work with lots of quick turning and stress on the knees. Knackered though!! He's ready to go. Gwilt did lap after lap and still looks a bit proppy. I really thought I detected a limp even though he has a strange running style. Armitage and Jones at the front of all the hard endurance running work. Hard to notice the new players with these old eyes!!! As said before no Roo or Goddard. Good to see Sammy Hammil there. Quite noisy on the track. Max is still on other committments. Caught up with Rebecca who is the new PR lady. Very impressed with her attitude. Talked to all the photographers there and gave them suggestions for photos and asked them for their ideas. Had a decent talk to her and shes very upbeat. No player trip pre season. Everything to be done here. Scott really is a little fella- looks like he is running in the ditch ( Sorry Scotty if you read this, I'll love you forever if you win us a flag!! ) In summary I thought Archer had shown the most change in Body- significantly slimmed down.
how fragile is winmar? he has the skinniest calves ive ever seen.

great photos!

the two vfl blokes are large units. crikeys!

We were free to use staff toilets via reception I overheard but it wasnt announced or anything.
