Burke's Law - How the Saints got our man!
Very interesting insight by Nathan Burke on how the Saints went about getting Scott Watters as their new coach.

Got that to, nice little dig at the previose coach.
Good article, intersting to hear the detail they went to to get select the coach.
I love this club

It's funny - the people who blindly criticise the club and the appointment process always seem to fall silent when these sort of articles are posted.
Maybe the Saints did something really well (coach selection process) ... just like they did the same thing really well in 2007 ...
Burkey seems very confident in Watters. Obviously has a vested interest, but with a process that thorough, you would be pretty confident in getting your man.

I don't know who at SEN but I do know that Caroline Wilson referred to the coach search panel as "politically correct"Royston wrote:Who at SEN?

If they wanted a politically correct selection panel they would have appointed the Bulldogs Julia Gillard instead of Brad Johnson to the panel.
But obviously they wanted a competent selection panel instead.

Footy is 'politically correct' because of Caroline Wilson. I swear she tells GT and Garry they are sexist every third week of Footy Classified.Devilhead wrote:I don't know who at SEN but I do know that Caroline Wilson referred to the coach search panel as "politically correct"Royston wrote:Who at SEN?

Burkey cuts through the bulldust that's choked the media over the past month. Grant Thomas - "Saints scared to make a decision"!
The "politically correct" panel. Saints taking too long...Saints slow off the mark...etc etc etc.
Burke also delivers a hip and shoulder to someone from SEN...interesting seeing that SEN has just bought Inside Football.
And can I pay full credit to the Club for being absolutely watertight over the whole interview process.
**Grant Thomas's Tweets on October 9 - surely indicating how far he was out of the loop -
"Saints interviewed 40 candidates! Extraordinary. I hope they knew what they were looking for?â€

I'm sure even when your making grand finals, there are still areas to improve as a football club?markp wrote:Yeah we lost thousands of members because of the closed training sessions we had.
I'm sure many hated having to find the money to go to GF's too.
At least that's been addressed.
No doubt our sponsorship, SC, stadium deal, and general financial woes will be sorted now that evil Ross is gone too.
Yet they still wanted to employ Ross Lyon even though the club is on the nose and needs to mend relationships with key stakeholders?
What am I missing here?
If Ross stayed it would be a case of 'same old same old'? Or were they going to reign Ross in if he was the cause of all ills.
Sorry Burkey, but I'm not buying.

First area would be to win one.SainterK wrote:I'm sure even when your making grand finals, there are still areas to improve as a football club?markp wrote:Yeah we lost thousands of members because of the closed training sessions we had.

My guess at SEN would either have been Hutchison or Matt Thompson, both ignorant halfwits.
Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Or they already tried to reign him in, hence it became untenable?SENsaintsational wrote:Yet they still wanted to employ Ross Lyon even though the club is on the nose and needs to mend relationships with key stakeholders?

It was Caroline Wilson on FootyClassified and The Age that said politically correct. I think Tim Watson on SEN mentioned her comments. Might be some cross promotion of the SEN name going on I think.joffaboy wrote:First area would be to win one.SainterK wrote:I'm sure even when your making grand finals, there are still areas to improve as a football club?markp wrote:Yeah we lost thousands of members because of the closed training sessions we had.

But it was a petty swipe, rather a 'nice little backhander', and who really gives a crap about some closed training sessions?
Pretty petulant and pointless comment about the SEN reporter too, especially when....
Beginning to think the man aint that smart.Blind Freddy will tell you the Saints have an image problem right now and it was important to us that the next coach had strong views and was willing to do whatever necessary to mend relations with key club stakeholders.
