IMO, forward coach should be priority
Nothing against Kingsley, but I'd like someone who has experience in the forwards area this time around.
It's an area Saints have struggled in for too long, and surely needs more attention.
Not much out there, dare I say Wayne Carey, who worked one on one with Roo in 2009 (from memory) and appeared to impact him at the time.
Or is it to much of a risk?
I'm just struggling to think of anyone else who could impart some, well I guess arrogance / belief, into the forward line?

Reckon Tudor was good also.Animal Enclosure wrote:The best one we have had in recent memory was Terry Daniher.
He did have Hamill, Gehrig & a fit Roo to work with though!
When Thomas moved him to backline coach for the next season the forward line went to shite.
Tudor was coming off a low base with the previous being John Barker - he was as useful as tits on a bull !!
I guess Scott could ask the question, but I can't see him coming back after making the move to Sydney?Royston wrote:Reckon Tudor was good also.Animal Enclosure wrote:The best one we have had in recent memory was Terry Daniher.

I didn't realise, but I heard recently that Wayne mentored Hawkins one on one the latter part of 2011....is that true?
Still not worth the risk as a forward coach?

Maybe Wayne did alright?
He would be worth contacting in our search for assistants IMO.

I think he would be a excellent foward coach but is he looking to be a full time roll?
I am a little concerned that we haven't got our coaching stafff sorted out yet
Could fit in well with the new bloke.
I love this club

Interestingly the year he informally 'mentored' Nick and even chatted to Kosi was 2009

What risk? You think if Roo hangs out with Carey he'll being abusing his girlfriend?SainterK wrote: Not much out there, dare I say Wayne Carey, who worked one on one with Roo in 2009 (from memory) and appeared to impact him at the time.

Cousins was seen as a risk. What was he going to do? Turn other players into drug addicts?
What is the obsession with risk? It is all over the AFL and at a certain level it is crippling because it removes doing anything daring. And sport without daring isn't sport.
And please don't throw up Lovett. It went wrong but not because of football.
Anyway, getting Carey is a great suggestion. We should go for it.
Carna Saints!!!

I think a bit of swagger is what the forward line needs

The King is now 'dating' a girl who is an ex of a current player.
While on field in 2011 he had a teriffic year, it is my understanding he is struggling a little with the breakup.

I don't think Cousins did much for Richmond. Got them a bit of publicity maybe... a lot of it negative... but they haven't really advanced at all. And you can't just ignore the Lovett fiasco... it had a major impact on our club in terms of finance, morale and football department given that we blew a high draft pick on him and had a reduced playing list before the season started. Carey has a long history of poor treatment of women and doing the dirty on his team mates and honestly I don't think he'd bring enough improvement to the list to be worth the trouble.SteveStevens66 wrote:What risk?
