Sounds great. Perhaps Lyin's "football" apprenticeship" is going to be continued.

The plaque should read: "Developing high quality St Kilda footballers since the departure of Ross Lyon"

We've got the Trevor Barker Medal. He would be worthy of course, but nothing at the Club for Yabby.

What is this exactly? Will this be a production line of players exclusively available to the saints?

Sounds pretty good

I'm sure other clubs have started to implement such structures

And can only see positives coming out

P.s - have to wonder how much we had invested if we can increase it by 300%

Don't want to be cynical but is it really just a spare room at seaford with a playstation and telly in it and a plaque on the door.

Noticed in the initial press conference that Scott Watters referred to our "academy". Was hoping this was what he was getting at.

Money well spent I would think! Bodes well for future years.

People diss this sort of thing or pay no attention to it and them whinge when the club is unsuccessful.

Is it any coincidence this year that 3 of the top 4 teams have a similar development structure in place for their young players?
Is it any coincidence that the sides that finished 1st and 2nd have their own VFL or seconds team?
Is it any coincidence that the top 4 clubs teams this year were the top four clubs for football department $ spent? A large part of which goes into recruiting and development.

The Saints will only be a successful and sustainable force when we invest in these areas ...

It's a great move.

I think it sounds absolutely brilliant.

Is this the Academy that prepared Turncoat Walsh for Sydney?

I wasn't aware we had an academy at all - thus I'm happy to see improvements will be made to all facets of junior development. I'm sure you can agree, we need it!

What's the point, when they can just go where the money is?

That was plain mismanagement, plain & simple. We would hope that with a new list management team & staff - that the priority would be to not have some stupid issue like this rearing its head again.

I certainly wouldn't want us to become the Ajax of AFL--youth development for richer clubs.

What stupid issue? Sydney offered him more money and his Irish mate talked him into it.
