have a feeling lynch will be good at adelaide and walsh will turn into one of the best fwds in the comp.
our list of talls just took a beating.
Lynch - no. Not up to it.
Walsh, well he may be, he may not be.....
But playing Roo up front and big Mac in the ruck, the second forward has been shown to need to lso be the second ruck. At the moment Kosi has held that spot reasonably comfortably.
And this situation does not look like changing in the near future. So with Tommy 24 next year, we realistically didn't really have a spot for him for another two years.....
So from a list managementpoint of view, we're better looking to develop an 18 year old Tall, or look to draft in a second ruck/Tall in a couple of years.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...

I'm not sure there has ever been a better top 10 than that bunch. All of them look to be A graders and any of them could become elite.

Isaac Smith was a first round selection in 2010 wasn't he?
Sorry. Right team, wrong bloke.
I was thinking of Shane Savage.

Reckon we got 68 as a possible rookie up-grade pick for Darch
Doesn't make sense. We can use whatever tail-end pick we have for rookie upgrades. The number of picks we get depends on how much space has been cleared on the list.
Pick 68 will almost certainly be used to draft a new player.

Boy did we miss out!
Well we have differences of opinion, I dont think that top 10 is anything special (I rate all those players and think they are good but nothing extraordinary for a top 10) but if lynch was pick 13 than you cant argue the top 10 against him anyway. As for all the others, pulled from an entire draft if thats all there is i still dont think theres is heaps of talent there. anthony, banner, banfield, gillies, beams, suban, shoenmakers I dont think they will be any good, time will tell. Ill raise you most years against 08 for what comes after the top 10.

Please suggest a better top 10 from prior to 2008. 09 and 10 are too fresh to be able to have a fair gauge.
I'm not arguing the top 10 against Lynch. You said "2008 wasnt a very good draft, it was pretty ordinary", I was simply showing that it wasn't ordinary at all, it was infact one of the best, if not the best of the modern era.
I can only think of the 2001 draft (referred to as the 'super draft') which has as much depth and quality right through it as the 2008 draft. If you can find another one which has as much quality and bats as deep then I'd like to see it.
In no way can you possibly argue that 2008 was an ordinary draft. The top 10 at this stage look to be all hits, not one miss. Virtually every other draft has more than 1 miss in the top 10. It also bats very very deep and there are probable A graders and potential elite players right through it.
ok ok agreed all of the top 10 look like hits but thats a reflection of the correct decisions made in terms of recruiting rather than the talent of it. Those players arnt any more talented than the top players from just about any other year. It just might be that the top 10 of 08's draft turn out to be the top 10 players from that draft. I can find you equal level of best players from most drafts. I think in other years the talent was just as good but the wrong decisions were made in the top 10 selections but thats not a reflection of the talent available thats comparing poor recruiting and good recruting. Its hard to argue this against you because I dont rate all of the "depth" players you have added to your list for 08 so to do my own in the same way I would have to add blokes I dont rate. You are saying i cant add 2009 or 2010 because we cant call it yet but youve happily added guys to your list who havnt proved anything yet.
This is my opinion but from 08 as far as depth from your list I only rate:
Sidebottom good player, Maybe Mitch Brown (but been too injured to really tell), Shuey good player, Ballantyne is ok, Zaharakis will be ok, Redden good, Hannebery good but maybe not as much as people think, roughhead maybe, shiels good, zac clarke is showing a bit, mitch robinson ok, sloane ok.
id even do just the year before in 07 for a comparison but heres 05:
Higgins, Jones pretty good, Hurn good, Birchall good, Varcoe good, Dempsey pretty good before did knee, D Stanley just ok, West looking good, Vince been good, Gilbert good, R warnock ok, swallow good, carlile ok, stokes pretty good, Bower i reckon does have talent and could be in an afl side, Bailey lots of knees but i reckon his alright and there are others playing afl as well but i couldnt honestly add them when i dont rate them.
After the end of trade week we still have a total of 39 senior players and veterans outside the list.
This number can be increased to 40 salary cap permitting.
Hayes, Blake and Baker were already veterans last year so Hayes and Blake must remain veterans.
That all means only pick 25 in the National draft has been activated.
Picks 35, 37, 42, 60, 68, 78, 96 require players to be delisted for them to be activated.
It sounds like Pelchen wnats to exercise 6 of these picks so at least 5 more senior listed players have to be delisted.

With recruiting like that I am surpised every pick was not used as a trade.
Rhys Stanley pick 47 2008 does go not go in hard enough and will most likely join his class mates in the next few years.

You have got to be joking! We could go through any clubs drafting lists and say who picked those guys and look whose been delisted now. Particularly with the pick numbers you have chosen. Go read each years drafts and circle all the dud picks, you will obviously be surprised

I would keep Geary out of that list for back-up at the very least, the others haven't been able to stay in the team for longer than a game or two if at all, but you do need some depth and I think Geary would be playing for a low salary.
