In the next 3 years, what does Watters need to achieve?
In order to get another contract?

Impossible to set any kind of benchmarks for scott.
We have an old group and a young group. Not many in betweeners.
So if we have no injuries we should be deep in it but if our older guys get injuries then scott should only be judged on our development progress.
So two totally different scenarios I think.

to hold his job? he needs to not miss the finals in year 1 for a start.
the top 5 teams from 2011 should hang around in the top 8 for the next 3 years. a few young teams are coming, and might be ahead of us in 3 years time given our ageing list and mid-twenties hole.
3 years from now is a risky time (2014) with our list:
- milne (34)
- lenny (34)
- fish (32)
- kosi (32)
- roo (32)
- joey (31)
- dal (30)
- goddard (29)
^ that list sums up our core great players (+ kosi) and i would be surprised if more than 4 of those will go round in 2015 (expect dal, joey, BJ and one other). conversely big mac & jack stevens should be hitting their peaks though, but that is not enough.
so, in 2014, watters will need to have developed some pretty key players to cover those losses (couple of mids, a couple of fwds and hopefully our young backs come up) so that the team is looking at least somewhat upwards in 2014. i don't think we need to make finals in 2014, but cannot be 11th or lower and heading downwards.

In 2014 we will be at the mercy of a rampant Gold Coast and Melbourne.Rosco wrote:to hold his job? he needs to not miss the finals in year 1 for a start.

And how sweet 1 & 4 would be given our new coach's background with the Dockers and their massive financial commitment to our ex?Hurricane wrote:1. Win a Flag
