To be fair, he was allowed to treat us like that, which makes it all the more strange really.sunsaint wrote:and hopefully that continues after todaydcstkfc wrote:He's a ripper media performer.
I hated how RL treated fans -
no more lies
no more games
just the truth!

Re: "WE".... not "they" or 'St Kilda' ..
Lyons mind is still frozen in 2005 imo. He is still in love with kirky and roosy and the bloods. Total knob.Seaford_Saint wrote:I can't help but remember thinking that during Lyon's first press conference (and indeed first 12 months in the job), he never referrred to the Saints as "we" or "us".... it was almost like he subconciously was still at the Swans.
Nothing of that from our new man today.
He also clearly understands the importance of respecting our club and it's people.
As such..... a big tick in the first box today! (many more boxes to tick yet though).

THomas never sang it either.....Spud wrote:I always felt that Lyon never fully embraced the club, he never even sang the club song in his 5 year tenure. Watters gives every indication that he will wholeheartedly embrace the club.

After milking 200k large from the club after that nasty big brute....Butters ....pressured the "un-pressurable" man into signing a stat dec........Grant was heard singing...."oh how i want to be in that number..." in his shower that night.
“Yeah….nah””
Posting for the first time cos I just watched Watters' press conference.
Gotta say, I'm pretty impressed. Also noticed the "we" 's and loved them.
Loved watching Rooey's enthusiasm for the new coach. Looks like we'll be a happier club next year. Let's hope we'll be happier supporters too!
Go Sainters!!!

Whether they should or not is beside the point, Lyon was a career coach, and firmly focused on his own pesonal agenda and quit without a goodbye to anyone (albeit belatedly to a few).plugger66 wrote:And neither they should.saintbrat wrote:THomas never sang it either.....Spud wrote:I always felt that Lyon never fully embraced the club, he never even sang the club song in his 5 year tenure. I noticed this too. Seemed to be going out of his way to say we, our, our club, etc at every opportunity. Seemed so natural saying it though. To even say it in reference to the last year being difficult - can't remember exactly, but something like "we've had a difficult year" when he'd only been there hours...embracing the club warts and all and seems this has resonated strongly with members.saintbrat wrote:I also noted the "We're" comments But he took it a step further and almost included himself in the rough 2011,, mentioned tough couple of years as if he was part of it--
I can't remember Ross' inital presser with the saints, but I did watch the one with Freo the other week and noted to family how he said " they" lots of times in the interview...mind you that might have something to do with the breakneck speed of being saints coach one day and freo the next...
At least Watters had time to get used to the idea.
Seemed very natural media performer
Very impressive first up performance.
