"WE".... not "they" or 'St Kilda' ......
I can't help but remember thinking that during Lyon's first press conference (and indeed first 12 months in the job), he never referrred to the Saints as "we" or "us".... it was almost like he subconciously was still at the Swans.
Nothing of that from our new man today.
He also clearly understands the importance of respecting our club and it's people.
As such..... a big tick in the first box today! (many more boxes to tick yet though).

He came acoss as geniune, articulate and passionate..loved his references to looking into the players eyes and recognising their resolve and the fact that it was time for a change ,a drawing a line in the sand..sounded very hopeful that he may also try to talk Harves into staying on..basically he couldn't have come across any more impressively..think we have snagged a good one !!!!

It was never completely abandoned by him either - if you recall his responses to questions about his coaching contract, there was no "we" - it was "you're talking to the monkey, go talk to the organ grinder".Seaford_Saint wrote:I can't help but remember thinking that during Lyon's first press conference (and indeed first 12 months in the job), he never referrred to the Saints as "we" or "us".... it was almost like he subconciously was still at the Swans.
So he found himself an organ grinder with a fatter wallet. Clever monkey.
Absolutely. The overarching themes were the contested ball, the inside 50s, the tackle count. Hard to think of another coach in the modern game who was so fearless in exposing his game metrics - which says a lot about his confidence tactically.BigMart wrote:Ross was many things (good coach being one)
but innability to articulate himself was not an issue for him....his footy speak and ability to back up his comments and make absolute sense was intimidating

he worked on SEN a little for some games apparently and they we commentators who worked with him were impressed with his game knowledge ( as is Dermie) and ability to read play.dcstkfc wrote:Was he renowned as a good bloke?st_Trav_ofWA wrote:scotty did spend time as a radio host in perthdcstkfc wrote:He's a ripper media performer.

I also noted the "We're" comments But he took it a step further and almost included himself in the rough 2011,, mentioned tough couple of years as if he was part of it--

True, he did, he said "We've had a rough couple of years."
Now THAT is what I call embracing the club.
"Too big, too strong, too whatever."
Not sure if its been stated elsewhere but this is what I liked most about the appointment which I have openly criticised about RL....
"Watters said he also wanted to open up the club more to engage with the community, fans and the media and believed the Saints' football would benefit as a result."
