dean greig. in my top 5 saints of all time.BigMart wrote:I remember playing against him in 97-98 period when he was a player at east burwood...not yet coach...he was a well put together intelligent midfielder/half back who had some good tussles with dean grieg.....
They were a strong club at that time along with Vermont and Donvale....Richardson took over as coach after that and they became even more dominant

No, not the same name. This ALLAN Richardson, spells his first name the same way as ALLAN Jeans did. He was born 17/5/65 and played 114 games for Collingwood from 1987 to 1996 but, interestingly, missed out (maybe he was injured) in playing in their 1990 flag team, having played 18 games for that year.perfectionist wrote:Well, how about that then. Will be a good get if Richardson does get the job. Has been very impressive at Carlton this year and many believe he was responsible for the improvement. Dont want to lose him. As far as Gavin Brown goes he too has been super impressive and Carlton will be hit big time if he goes too. Not sure about getting out of his contract though as Brown would not be getting a senior coaching job and will leave Carlton without 2 coaches. Time will tell i guess.

I like that. Not the arsehole bit.GoTheTorp wrote:I usually have a pretty reliable source, but the club has shut up shop tighter than a fishes arshole. Any person at the club found to be giving any leak is to be sacked on the spot.
Makes me wonder where all this hearsay and innuendo comes from?

I vaguely remember him as a player and he seemed like a big slow moving forward with long sleeves from memory. An uninspiring footballer but the pies fans liked him. Hope he has more personality off the field. I have feeling we will go with scotty watters still. Just purely because he seems like a much younger bloke, Hinkley and Richardson look old, so you assume they are from an era of less planning and strategy.

You're thinking of Mark Richardson, the spud who played in the 90's.gringo wrote:I vaguely remember him as a player and he seemed like a big slow moving forward with long sleeves from memory. Was a gritty ,tough midfielder with very good skills..this is an interesting development..knew that when I went online tonight there would be a good chance of the new coach being mentioned...these things are very hard if not impossible to contain..seems we may have underestimated Alan for the higher profile Watters and Hinkley.
His bio does read very impressively..Reckon it will announced tommorrow.Happy to welcome which ever of the 3 the process has indentified as the best man.
Can't wait for the announcement and renewed hope

RalphyHeraldSun Saints still interviewing candidates tonight so silly to think anyone has the job. Richardson great in first int. but 2nd interview the key

Robbo_heraldsun to clarify, no decision on coach as yet. Richardson may get it, but a 2nd iv to go with 1 of the applicants. AS for BJ, he's staying about 1 hour ago · reply · retweet · favorite

Well it's sure to be Hinkley............... my reasoning is as follows.
Most pundits (posters) on this site were for days opting for Watters, and championing his talents(??) so he appeared to have the front running.
Now Richardson seems to have pulled out and passed Watters in the race for the Saint's senior coach and appears to be favourite with ss punters, as they are trying to come up with positives about his possible coaching talents
Now will the stayer in the race pip them both at the post???? Possibly the money should be on him?
If Hinkley does get the job, let's hope he stays longer than his last stint at the Saints!!!!!!!!!!!!
