He gets to walk away still in love with the club.Moccha wrote:I wonder why he never coached St. Kilda?

I saw 3 debutantes played for the Saints against North Melbourne in round 6, 1965 - at Coburg! The one that attracted the most attention at the time was Julian White (only 3 senior games). The other two were Cowboy and Barry Breen! Many great memories of Cowboy the player; his 8-goal second half to beat the Bombers at Moorabbin (6 in 3rd qtr, 4 in the first 5 minutes) and his ruck effort at Kardinia Park to turn a 5 goal deficit entering time-on in the third qtr into a 2 goal win are most special.
By the way, the bloke became a legend in the ACT as captain/coach of Ainslie. I went to the Ainslie Club earlier in the year and its like a shrine to the bloke. Remember Ainslie beating Footscray in a night match at Waverley? Cowbay still booted 6.
An absolute legend of the Saints.

Thanks Cowboy......on and off field..
As the President of the past players association............
I know Kevin is concerned and the Club has been trying to build the base of ACTIVE past players......
having only 1 premiership team has effected the want/attraction/reunion of players.......virtually died off before COWBOY put in a lot of work
Our very poor 80's has impacted etc
I wonder who will take over?
Hope the passion is continued and the CLUB put resources in.....
Ess have reynolds club etc......Rich......Tom Hafey club etc....big functions
but the driving factor is often reunions of Premiership teams etc......
Kevin was just so hard working in trying to build it up......
Please dont let his work slip away.

I believe Neil Roberts is taking over in the interim, however they are keen to get younger past players in however they dont show much interest. For the first time a member of the board actually attended their meeting so lets hope the club helps to support them. The past players have done alot for former players who have fallen on hard times as well as helping others through different ways.chook23 wrote:Thanks Cowboy......on and off field..
