I don't follow twitter, but the first half of the word - twit - suggests that this is not a place where people share their heart and soul. The word limit (120 characters) also creates a space for misunderstanding. It's Twitter, not Skype! You don't get the body language, etc which is essential in normal conversation. So don't read too much into a post on Twitter.

He has journo's following him.

Maybe he needs to think before tweeting.

It's not like anyone has twisted his words, he basically gives them a direct quote everytime he chooses to air anything.

I don't get the 'poor grammy' angle, he is a big boy, who chooses to put things in the publics eye.

This is the only place that his tweet has gotten a mention. Do you really think it would be news if there wasnt 5 pages of abuse directed towards him?

Yeah.

In the space of 12 months we've gone from players getting 12 year olds pregnant and starring in pornos, to players performing an eisteddfod on national TV and tweeting about going for a run without a coach.

And yet the outrage on here seems about the same

Is it normal to be running time trials this time of year?

Is it possible Pelchin wants to get an idea of attitude and how the look after themselves in the off-season?

You obviously haven't watched the response directly to him on twitter?

Maybe people are starting to get a sense that all is not well down there, and problems that can be papered over when the team has been doing well are more stark when they have not.

No doubt there's a cumaltive effect here.

"Here we go again"; "icing on the cake" etc etc etc. And I can understand that.

And I can understand people seeing the Footy Show performance and simply slouching in their chairs and going WTF!

I get that totally.

But in isolation this tweet is really nothing and unfortuantely the responses, particularly those of this forum, are coloured largely by the indentity of the tweeter and posters feelings towards him. Some may say that's fair; I'm not so sure.

Shoot me down if you like but ..................

I really like Gram, I think he is unfairly criticized. Every team needs outside players.

Con Gorozidis wrote:Can't believe people take tweets so seriously. Its just a muck around.
Doesn't reflect anything. Thanks to everyones over reaction we will just have clubs banning players from tweating. So thanks guys.
You know what, Con. If he wants to have a 'muck around' with Raph, and he owns a phone, then f'n pick it up, skip twitter, and call him.

The club management are managing a very difficult, very serious moment in our history. Would it be too much to ask that the players don't publicly undermine the staff with complaints #whatthe ?

This tweet isn't the end of the world - as stated in the op - but do you reckon that after the last 18 months or so our players could just think before they act occasionally.

And if the club could ban them from tweeting (they can't) what would we lose? Opportunities for players to act like dills? Big loss.

A month ago when I was on Annual Leave I got called in to come and do some work one day. I was far from impressed and didn't hold back on social media about it. I don't see the difference here. They are on holidays Gram has every right to be unimpressed!

I'd say that is exactly it.

But the outrage over this tweet is ridiculous and then the following character assassination is appalling.

Some people in cold light of day some people should be ashamed of themselves as St Kilda supporters.

It might not have been the smartest for the tweet, but so what? This is a bloke that should have a Norm Smith Medal around his neck.

I think people need to ease up just a tad.

I dont even like going to work when im supposed to be there.

To a degree what he says makes sense.

Who will be there to monitor the fitness... What if everyone blows up and does a hammy half way through.

Those trying to say that it's just because it's Gram.

What about the Bombers boys trying to sell tickets on twitter, Swan re the drug testers, Riewoldt re spilling the beans on the rising star, Thomas on a flight to arizona...

All making the paper, and I could go on.

If players get themselves in trouble over tweets, can't point the finger at anyone else but themselves.

They are giving a dial a quote everytime they do it, by choice.

Understand your point K.

And if people simply commented on the appropriateness or otherwise of what was tweeted then fair enough.

But go back and look at how quickly this thread descended into an open attack on Gram's place on our list, his courage, commitment, fitness, skill level etc etc .

That's where I'm coming from.

Yes I don't like personal attacks either.

My point is more about the 'look at me' aspect of football players tweeting, and how it quickly turns to 'poor me'

Simple solution and all that.

(I gave Gram votes in one of the last games, because I thought he worked really hard on keeping his kicks low and direct and nailed some passes inside 50 resulting in assists. No complaints here if he stays, and keeps himself to that kind of standard)

Just don't shift peoples attention to oneself, if one doesn't want to be in the focus.

The problem is that the tweets DO become dial-a-quote for the media.

And his response to it is somewhat annoying also. So easy for such shortened text or email to be taken out of context. This could be completely innocent....But seriously give it a second thought before posting.

Should be more STFU.

Can we just have one freakin season without any drama? No matter how petty.

Could be to keep them on their toes and focussed at a time of year when they may normally be letting off steam (ie. doing s*** that'll make the papers).

When you think of all the things these blokes could be getting up to, and some of ours have in the past, I'm happy for a bloke to be sitting on the couch playing with his iPhone 8-)

Totally agree. But I'd also add 'to those trying to say it's just because it's the Saints'.

This stuff happens to every club, all the time. We're probably one of the best at keeping out of genuine trouble.

People who see these things as a drama or a problem for the club, only do so because they choose to.

Yet another 'non-issue' to throw on the pile.
