We havn't even started interviews yet?

Post: # 1154604Post bennymac5 »

Herald Sun and Age both saying we start interviews tomorrow. I have no problem with not rushing but I thought we would take our time interviewing them because we would get a good understanding of them. But the fact that we havn't started interviews yet means we have been doing nothing for a few weeks.

Doing nothing?

According to some radio I heard on the weekend, St Kilda went and spoke to "anyone and everyone" about the job over the past 2 weeks. The Saints have then compiled a list of candidates they want to interview (various reports have 8, 9 or 10 people on this list).

That process takes some time and it's only been 2 weeks since Lyon left.

We have a very good selection committee in place, we have a list of candidates from which we are choosing a coach and we have all those candidates scheduled for interviews over the next few days.

I reckon that's a fairly good effort within the space of a fortnight.

I stand corrected. I'm not thinking the clearest at the moment.

I wonder how informed we'll be of the process being undertaken to find our next coach.....will we have to wait for an announcement on the short list of candidates, only to find someone from left field has come along and blitzed the process and will be announced as coach....

Six debutants for the Saints so far in Season 2024. :D

The radio said we won't have a coach in place until after trade week.
This means Pelchen will be calling the shots.

I reckon we will have one by the end of the week.

Preliminaries are done.

Time for the short list of interviews probably over the next 2-3 days.

Announcement Friday, Monday next week latest I would guess.

The way the process seems to work these days, with a prospective senior coach making a presentation to the panel, the applicants need time to prepare.

The last 2 weeks would have been for feeling out possible applicants, and organising times for the presentations to take place, allowing them ample time to prepare properly.

Think of a guy like Watters, who I think is an outstanding candidate, he's been kinda busy over the last 2 weeks, so I'd imagine he'd be one of the last to make their presentation.

And this is where Pelchen earns whatever it is we're paying him. Otherwise, what's the point in getting him?

Whatever he does some will like and some will hate. But same goes with whoever is in charge.

Have faith.

+1

And this is exactly why I couldn't give a fig if we have a coach now or in two weeks.

Clearly the club knew (or should have known) Lyin's response to getting Pelchen.

If they didn't they are plain dumb.

Pelchen was brought in to star this month. He bloody well better

Is the Eade interview is going ahead?

Apparently he's taken the Pies director of coaching job, but I wonder if that's conditional on him not getting a senior coaching gig elsewhere.

Spot on Doc!

That's what Pelchen and the recruiters are paid for. Coach being in place is not critical.
Would you rather have THE best coach available OR rush in and potentially mess it up.

hopefully about as informed as Bulldogs, melbourne and adelaide supporters were.. and maybe just alittle more than the Freo supporters were

did anyone hear of who was on the other clubs panels-- why is it felt necesay that the saints open all

club said 4 weeks- take time and ask questions I say-other victorian clubs took 6 weeks.

As of now all the other clubs are on holiday for 8 weeks, when the new coach is appointed he'll hit the ground running with plenty of time to prepare the team for next season.

Nothing but speculation here, but maybe we were holding off because a lot of Football people have been on holidays and maybe some we are keen on had grand finals to worry about.
