Down to three

Post: # 1150480Post SaintWal »

Michael Roberts at golf day advised that the saints are down to three candidates and that they are all "young"

Doesn't make sense if they haven't interviewed Eade yet....so they're either going through the motions in interviewing Eade, or Micheal Roberts is speculating...I suspect its the latter

Yes, I was thinking when I read your original post that he'd be likely to know a bit: isn't he connected to the club in some way?

However, if he truly did tell you this, did he also tell you that you are allowed to post it to a public forum like this? It sounds to me like seriously inside, and therefore confidential, information.

I was but one of the masses as he was mc. Also said that misson was a complete shock as he had committed to the saints for next year. Also said that there was absolutely no love lost between mark Harvey and Ross Lyon and it could be very interesting at coaches dinner tomorrow night. Well known now to Harvey that talks with Ross and dockers started well before our loss to Sydney in final.

Eade may have been consulted on views rather than for the position.

OK here's my guess at the 3:
1) Watters
2) Hinkley
3) Cameron

Correct.

Who knows if MR is speaking the truth, but if he is I'm more than happy to go with one of 3 young dudes.

I reckon Robert Harvey would be in there still Saint Wodonga.

I reckon Harvs and Watters, dont know who would be third. Dont think it will be Cameron if he could'nt land the job at his old club, and I still dont want Hinkley, he will only walk out on us again i f he cracks a sad.

I would have thought Roberts should be keeping his gob shut if HD knew anything. If it is true then I would be happy with the names mentioned, preference to Watters

I don't think that anything he said was a problem. If he had of told us the last three names I think it would then become a breach of trust. You also must remember that Roberts is on the coaches association as well and would be getting feed back from there as well

Did someone get appointed? Do you have inside knowledge?

or could it just be a case of certain coaches fit certain teams, and also what makes the other 3 clubs right?

Just adding my opinion to the thread, which reads that it is down to three......all inexperienced....

I believe at this brittle point of time in our history...

.....lost two gf's and slipped
......second most successful coach walks
......captain and best player struggling with injury
......2nd best player 32 and coming back after a knee reco
......3rd best player out of form, looking at other options
......no highly touted ypunger, lyon has left the bottom of our list undeveloped

We need a senior coach of experience and presence....

Not a
Brad Scott
Damien Hardwick
Guy McKenna
Brett Ratten
Mark Harvey
James Hird
Michael Voss
Matthew Primus
John Longmire

All First time coaches......all underwhelming imo

So, can Harves (our Harves) coach? What is he like as a tactician, especially on match day? Anyone have any information on this? If he's up to it, with or without the need for an initial mentor, then I'd love to see him get the job. We wouldn't have to worry about his loyalty...

Im sure most clubs are after a person with the attributes to make a GOOD senior coach.....

There is no way of predicting the future...

But why were the other coaches overlooked if they are quality......it must be that they were not as good as the winning applicant...

Well Eade, Ayres and the like have also been "overlooked" otherwise they'd be coaching in the AFL now.
