Hawthorn have been successful in recent years and continue to be successful.
If people are going to use them as an example to say we should have stayed in Tassie then they should also use them as an example of a club that successfully relocated it's training base to the sticks.
Let's not selectively use the Hawks model.

It takes 22 minutes to get from the Manhattan Pub in Vermont/Ringwood to our new TRAINING BASE in Seaford. Eastern suburbs within 20-25 mins include; Vermont/Sth, Mitcham, Forest Hill, Blackburn, Glen Waverley, Wantirna, Scoresby, Mulgrave & RowvilleMrs_Seaford_Saint wrote:Seaford is not in the middle of nowhere and I am over people going on and on about it - the ground all but backs Eastlink which hooks up to the Monash and the Eastern - it's not a hard drive or a long one.Spinner wrote:

Out in the middle of nowhere.
I'm not all that familiar with the bayside suburbs but I suspect Mordialloc & Mornington are both within 15 minutes !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!
Rover Danny Craven used to live next to me and train at Moorabbin, he loved the proximity, guess what? its closer to Seaford from here traveling time wise. Ever heard of Mt Martha, Mt Eliza? these are some places you dont move into without some $$$ and they are all within coee of Seaford.
Sooking about where you train is a load of rot, you get paid its your job you go and do it

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

They have farken East Link, and its not that farkn far.
The amount of money the players make is more than enough to justify the drive.
People are just never happy, give them something and they want more.
Far out, I wonder what would happen if everyone complained about having to pay to play football (vafa) and play on shitty grounds and having to drive to teams like Werribee and Rupertswood.
Morrabbin was just too friggen old. You'd have to bulldose the entire thing and rebuild. They tried to get it done, and they couldn't, so move on.
Geelong train in Geelong when lots of players live in Melbourne. Hawks train at Waverley when lots of players live in the city.
It won't be a problem going forward, it was just a problem for those used to going to Moorabbin.

You are about spot on - IF Eastlink didn't wasn't built I could see an issue but with Eastlink everything is so close - I have done Rosebud to the city in 1h 2m ( doing the speed limit) so can someone tell me why it's such an issue - i think it's so easy to blame something new but even the haters must admit the facilities are 100% better then what we had at Moorabbin.Eastern wrote:It takes 22 minutes to get from the Manhattan Pub in Vermont/Ringwood to our new TRAINING BASE in Seaford. What happened the year after we moved to Moorabbin?
Were the players able to get on with things after the relocation from JO?
Really think this "Seaford Issue" is a storm in a teacup. Time get on with the job & stop looking for stupid excuses!!

Lets not forget the new Pennisula Freeway currently being built for those who choose to live on the Penninsula.
If we go by the theory that Seaford is out of the way and in the middle of no where, then one of the most succesful NFL Franchises the Green Bay Packers wouldn't exist as they are in a relatively small city mile from no where.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Sure u didnt mean Archie Beavis?End Of An Era wrote:I spoke to Rodd Butthead at that AGM, Not Archie Fraser.
Anyways I'm surprised someone hasn't lobbied for us to move to the St.Kilda City oval in Blessington Street.
Sing it loud and sing it proud but most of all hang around for this club will rise to claim the prize and then we will realise its not such a surprise.
