Perfect fit if we can afford him. Has worked with Pelchen "critical", premiership coach, spent the year coaching kids and doesn't take too much crap. Sign him up!

Would absolutely love Choco as coach.
And organizations, especially in the AFL dont stop people progressing their careers.
If Choco did get the job, GWS wouldnt be a problem.

Plenty of clubs have gone for the untried guys this week....they need to have a grasp of the modern game AND have an eye on development....Teflon wrote:TBH with full presses and the defensive change the game has taken......Im not convinced that the game may have slipped by Williams....my gut feel is someone young is the go....we have to rebuild
development was not mentioned in Lyins new Freo contract...he asked them to keep it simple..
Eade would be a BIG backward step....Choco..not sure but i hope he stays at GWS
Will we pick up a player in the SSP window
reckon the players have forgotten how to do play a full press? were doing it 12 months ago.Teflon wrote:TBH with full presses and the defensive change the game has taken......Im not convinced that the game may have slipped by Williams....my gut feel is someone young is the go....we have to rebuild
i used to dislike choco, but probably because he was port coach. i don't think i would mind him atm, could be a nice change. can't particularly remember him for any specific game style, never really watched port play.

My gut feel is that Williams is the man most likely at this stage.
That said I thought Longmire was across the line when we were last looking for a coach.
We could do a lot worse than Choco, but who knows, we might be able to do better too.

If Williams has the 'right stuff' GET 'EM.
The boy can play and we can build a defence around him that will have respect.

With the current dramas surrounding the Club, I think that a mature Coach who has been through this stuff before, is needed. With other coaching and fitness staff leaving, it's going to be a massive people management job, selecting and then settling people in.
Williams seems a good fit and is a good developer of young players.
Being at GWS, he would need to have a good handle on current strategies - it's not as though he has been compleytely out of the game.

As I have posted on other threads, I think some on here are obsessed with the idea that a coach with even one premiership is better than a coach without any. Hence the continuing suggestions of getting either Williams or Roos.
Williams clearly got into a bad situation with the Port Adelaide board. Are we all 100% sure that the problem was entirely with the board?
Williams will be good with Sheedy there to watch over him and stop him from getting up anyone's nose. If he came to coach us he'd be totally vulnerable with nobody to protect him if he stuffs up.
And I suspect he's a difficult sort of character and, right now, we probably aren't looking to take a major punt.
